The European String Teachers’ Association (ESTA) is a non-governmental organisation enjoying participatory status with the Council of Europe. In 1972 a small group of eminent string teachers (Marianne Kroemer, Max Rostal and Yehudi Menuhin), founded ESTA to promote the highest standards in teaching and to enable the sharing of ideas among string teachers and players of all distinctions throughout

Europe. An eminent member of the string teaching community is invited to be President. Past Presidents have included Max Rostal, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Siegfried Palm and Igor Ozim.

A Portuguese-born violinist, educator, soundpainter, and multi-style artist, Joana Carvalhas – known as The Tiny Musician – is an innovative multi-style violinist and educator.

Originally from Portugal, Joana studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (UK) and at Berklee Valencia (US/Spain) and is part of the assistant faculty of the Mike Block String Camp (US) as well as a music educator and speaker in different countries around the world.
