Last week our very last evaluation with the Japanese trainees took place. It was great to see how they have grown over the past year and to hear their experiences.

We would like to sincerely thank Patrick and Kyoko for their years of hospitality, dedication and excellent care for the Japanese trainees. For more than 30 years, they have made sure that the trainees felt welcome upon arrival in the Netherlands. They helped the trainees with practical arrangements prior to their training. And they taught them about Dutch culture so that they could begin their adventure well prepared.

We wish our last Japanese trainees much success in their future🍀

Lucas loopt stage in Amerika en we kregen het volgende bericht van hem:

"Ik ben ondertussen al ruim 2 weken in Amerika. De omgeving is hier heel mooi en vooral heuvelachtig en er staat bijna alleen maar mais en sojabonen. Verder maak ik lange dagen op de boerderij meestal van 7 tot 7 maar het zijn super leuke mensen hier die heel goed voor mij zorgen. Verder heb ik een eigen kamer met eigen badkamer dus dat is ook goed voor elkaar. De jongste zoon heeft me al een aantal keer meegenomen naar feestje hier en dat was ook erg gezellig. Kortom ik vermaak me wel hier in Iowa.

Last week we had our annual Midpoint Event, with 15 enthusiastic trainees.
On the first day, we started with an evaluation, followed by lunch. And in the afternoon we went to the golf course to play footgolf. We ended the day with a nice dinner and price ceremony.
The second day we went to the famous cheese market in Alkmaar. We got a tour of the Waag building and some trainees got a chance to carry the cheese on the cheese barrows. Then they took a boat trip through the canals and we ended the day with a scavenger hunt with prize ceremony. It was a great couple of days!

This week and last week we visited some more trainees and their hosts. We went to two dairy farms, an arable farm and three horticultural farms. All trainees were very happy with their placements and are learning a lot.

Yesterday we visited three organic/biodynamic arable farms to see our trainees again and meet their hosts. They all gave us a tour of the farm and fields and enthusiastically told us about their projects, tasks and responsibilities.

Today we had a new introduction meeting in Alkmaar for the trainees who arrived in the Netherlands recently. We had Yasmin from Indonesia, Christine from South Africa, Victoria from Argentina, Louis from France and Zael from Brazil.

Evelien is net terug van haar stage in Canada en heeft ons het volgende geschreven:

"Ik ben inmiddels weer 1,5 week terug in Nederland, maar ik heb een super ervaring gehad in Canada. Ik zat in huis bij een super lief stel dat inmiddels al bijna 20 jaar in Canada woont. De man van het stel doet de boerderij samen met zijn zoon en ik kon het erg goed met beide vinden. Het werk was daarom ook altijd gezellig.

Ik heb in de tijd dat ik daar was bijna elke dag gewerkt, maar dat vond ik zeker niet erg. Soms een keer uitslapen of soms een keer een avond vrij vond ik genoeg. Als ik een volle werkdag had, begon ik om 6u om te helpen met melken. Dat ongeveer tot 9u. Daarna tussen 11.30 en 13.30 boxen krabben en helpen met voeren en dan savonds ook weer helpen met melken van 6 tot 9u ongeveer. Het is natuurlijk winter, dus ik heb niet super veel kunnen meemaken wat betreft landwerk etc. maar dat wist ik van tevoren.

In mijn vrije tijd was Netflix vooral het slachtoffer. Ik zat wel een beetje aan het erf gekluisterd, want in de omgeving was ook niet veel te doen. Vond ik opzich niet erg, maar ergens vond ik dat wel een beetje jammer.

Ik heb niet persee nieuwe vrienden gemaakt. Wel vond ik het altijd gezellig om mee te gaan naar familie van het stel waar ik zat, en om dan vervolgens lekker spelletjes te doen enzo.

Ik heb jullie service erg goed ervaren. Ik ben erg blij dat jullie zo veel voor mij geregeld hebben op het gebied van het visum en de verzekeringen. Daar ben ik erg dankbaar voor."

We ontvingen het volgende bericht met foto's van Alwin die momenteel in Canada zit voor zijn stage:

"Hier gaat alles goed. De sneeuw is nu eindelijk weg en we gaan bijna beginnen met het veldwerk. We wonen hier in een mooi appertement met nog 2 duitse seizoenswerkers."

This morning we had a new introduction meeting in Alkmaar again. It was a lovely small group with Rafael and Caroline from Brazil and Esra from Turkey.

We hope that they will enjoy their time here in the Netherlands!😃

Last week we met the new group of Japanese trainees in Gronau, Germany. First we had lunch together and after that we started with the introduction meeting. They were all very excited to start their training this week!

Yesterday we had a new introduction meeting in Alkmaar for our trainees who recently arrived in the Netherlands. We had Durga from Spain, Tobias from Switzerland, Heloisa and Gabriel from Brazil, Denfer from Indonesia, Dogukan from Turkey and Jeonghyuk, Gyuhyo and Yoonsang from South-Korea.
We hope that they will enjoy their time here in the Netherlands!😃

Last week we held a final evaluation meeting in Alkmaar with our small group of Japanese trainees. They are (almost) finished with their one-year training. We talked about their experiences and they provided some great tips to pass on to the next Japanese group that will be arriving in a few weeks. It was great to hear how they enjoyed their time in the Netherlands and to see how much they have grown over the past year.
