Business Crossing Boundaries

Business Crossing Boundaries An international programme for bachelor students to help students develop strong knowledge and skills required to do business in an international context.

As the global economy continues to expand, the demand for international business education is higher than ever and expected to increase. Avans University of Applied Sciences, with its continuing mission to provide excellence in education has developed an international programme to help students develop strong knowledge and skills required to do business in an international context. Our aim is to e

nable students to effectively manage a wide range of functional business areas in an integrative way and to gain a deep understanding of corporations and the way different businesses interact. We want to facilitate students’ intellectual growth by exposing them to knowledge, concepts, and/or experiences that reflect a different cultural frame of reference, and stimulate students’ interest in cross-cultural, international, and comparative learning. It is often said that it is essential to create a "Knowledge Sharing Culture" as part of a Knowledge Management initiative. In this framework, the minor aims to bring together students from different disciplines to discuss theoretical and practical implications of learning, teaching and administration in a knowledge sharing environment by organizing a “Global Business Conference”. Students will present their research articles and experiences in this conference. The scope of the conference includes major topics related to business in an international context. The aim of the conference is to invite and share multiple and diverse perspectives about new challenges in doing business in an international context. To be admitted to the programme, students should have obtained at least 120 ECTS and successfully completed their internships. Students should have affinity with following courses in English and following courses that comprise the international business focus. We also expect a collaborative attitude. Period: August – January (2 quarters of 10 weeks). If in doubt, please contact Naïm Asbaâ ([email protected]) or Serge Verwiel ([email protected]) to determine your eligibility for admission to the minor. Classes fill up fast, so don’t wait too long to register!
