The AVANZA Ecocina Factory is located in Esteli, Nicaragua, which is in the northern part of the country. It is classified as a "rocket stove" because of the intensity of the heat it generates. That intensity consumes 86% of the particulate matter produced by the combustion of wood. The result is a virtually smoke-free cooking experience for the mothers and sisters who do the majority of the meal
preparation in Nicaragua. This will have a huge impact on the amount of damage to eyes and lungs that happens during a lifetime of cooking. The factory will promote this remarkable stove to women's groups locally and in neighboring communities. Our goal is to convince women that this stove is a healthy choice for them and their children first of all. But additionally, it will reduce the cost of fuel by 50%: either by cutting the amount of time needed to forage for fuel or in cutting the cost of fuel purchased from vendors. Either way, this stove is a must-have appliance--for healthy living and saving money.
