Brief Biography of His Royal Highness, Alh Sanusi Mikailu Sami,Sami Gomo III, The Emir of Zuru.

His Royal Highness, Alh Sanusi Mikailu Sami was born in 1968 into the respected family of Mikailu Sami, a brother to the deceased Emir.

His Royal Highness began his educational journey at Sami Gomo Primary School Zuru where he obtained Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1979.

He then proceeded to Government Secondary School Yabo, Sokoto State and graduated in 1984.

Academic Qualifications;

His Royal Highness, Alh Sanusi Mikailu Sami possesses the following academic qualifications;

✅ Certified Nurse School of Nursing, Sokoto (1991)

✅ Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maiduguri

Experience;

His Royal Highness, Alh Sanusi Mikailu Sami meritoriously served at the College of Agriculture Zuru, Kebbi State, until it's transition to the Federal University of Agriculture Zuru, rising to the position of Head of medical Department until his retirement.

He ventured into business and currently holds leadership positions in various organizations as follows;

✅ Chairman, Tencent Technology Nigeria Limited

✅ Chairman, Sino Gold Fortunes

✅ Chairman, Green Circle Nigeria Limited, Abuja

Committed to community services, His Royal Highness, Alh Sanusi Mikailu Sami dedicated himself to promoting unity, peace, and sustainable development in Zuru Emirate.

His interactions with locals reflect his commitment to the betterment of the community, an outstanding character that earns him respect across all quotas.

Following the demise of Major Gen Dr Muhammadu Sani Sami, Sami Gomo II, His Royal Highness Alh Sanusi Mikailu Sami, Sami Gomo III was appointed by His Excellency, Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu the executive Governor of Kebbi State as the 12th Emir of Zuru on 28th August, 2025.

He is happily married.

Kebbi Govt. appoints Sanusi Mika'ilu Sami as new Emir of Zuru

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris has approved the appointment of Sanusi Mika'ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.

Presenting the letter to the new Emir on Thursday in Zuru, the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari said the appointment was based on recommendation of the election committee.

He said out of the three candidates that applied for the position and screened by the Zuru Emirate Emir-ship election committee, Alhaji Sanusi Mika'ilu Sami got the highest votes to clinch the throne.

The commissioner said the appointment of the new Emir was due to the demise of His Royal Highness, late Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who passed away on Aug. 16, 2025 at a London hospital.

Dutsin-Mari thanked the Kebbi State Governor for approving the appointment of the new Emir and urged the new royal father to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He advised the new monarch to discharge his responsibilities diligently with the fear of God Almighty.

HISTORY OF LATE MAJ. GEN. MUHAMMADU SANI SAMI(RTD) SAMI GOMO II, THE EMIR OF ZURU

Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami, the Emir of Zuru, was a highly revered leader and retired military officer. He lived a very remarkable life with dedication and service during his military career days and his reign as the emir of Zuru.

Early Life and Education: Born on October 24, 1943, Sami attended Junior Primary School in Zuru, Senior Primary School in Kontagora, and Government College in Bida. He later enrolled in the Nigerian Military Training College.

Military Career: Sami joined the Nigerian Armed Forces in 1962 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1963, alongside President Muhammadu Buhari. He participated in the Nigerian Civil War and held various positions, including:

Platoon Commander, 3rd Infantry Battalion, Kawo, Kaduna (1963-1966)
Detachment Commande, Kainji Dam Construction (1966) and Mining Operations in Bukuru, Jos (1967)
Brigade Major, 32 Infantry Brigade, Jos (1970-1971)
Commander, 2 Infantry Brigade, Nsukka and Abakaliki (1972-1973)
Governor, Bauchi State (1984-1985) and Acting Governor, Sokoto State

Reign as Emir: Sami ascended to the throne as the 11th Emir of Zuru in 1995 and worked tirelessly to promote peace, development, and unity in his domain.
He fostered Interfaith Dialogue, creating an inter-denominational committee comprising Muslims and Christians
Improved Security, reintroducing the colonial system of security measures and setting up security committees at various levels
Promoted Development, attracting investors and supporting initiatives like the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru

Legacy: Emir Sami passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 81, in a London hospital. He is survived by four wives and seven children. The entire Leadership of ZEYA has extended condolences to his family and the people of Zuru Emirate
