What an incredible journey we’ve had! 🚀
We’ve just concluded three intensive days of technical sessions for our Institutional Capacity Strengthening Project, and the energy in the room was amazing! ✨

Guided by our expert consultants—Ms. Bless Jima (MEL), Mr. Gado Mikah (Procurement), and Mr. Umar Jiddah (Resource Mobilization)—the participating CSOs from across the State engaged with the principles of institutional excellence.

The program was much more than a series of lectures; it fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas. We held interactive group sessions focused on real-world operational challenges in programming, donor engagement, and global compliance standards in finance and procurement. These collaborative discussions helped participants explore practical solutions to improving operations.

The dynamic environment continued with Q&A sessions, where our experts addressed specific challenges faced by local actors in the field, ensuring that concerns were not only heard but also tackled directly. Ultimately, the session emphasised knowledge sharing, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and the practical realities of humanitarian work in the region.

A heartfelt thank you to our consultants for their invaluable mentorship and to the CSO representatives for their unwavering commitment to growth. 🪴

Yesterday, we proudly hosted the inaugural meeting for our Institutional Capacity Strengthening Project! 🚀

This significant milestone brought together committed representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs) across the finance, procurement, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) departments. They engaged in fruitful discussions with our expert consultants: Ms Bless Jima, an experienced MEL specialist from Nuru Nigeria; Mr. Gado Mikah, the lead procurement officer at the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Yola; and Mr Umar Jiddah, a strategist in resource mobilization and donor engagement. Together, we kicked off this critical initiative under the Promoting Local Response Capacity and Partnership (PLRCAP).

Supported by the Flexible Mini Grant (FMG) and funded by NORCAP, a part of the Norwegian Refugee Council, this 4-week mission is now officially underway. Our collaborative discussions focused on strengthening the systems that empower local humanitarian actors in the state to be sustainable, accountable, and impactful.

By the end of this month, we aim to ensure that these local organizations—the backbone of community resilience—are fully equipped to manage substantial donor funding and lead the humanitarian response in our region.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, consultants, and the participating CSOs for their enthusiasm and dedication to the localization agenda.

Together, we are innovating for local resilience. ✨

📢: We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Institutional Capacity Strengthening Project, a dedicated initiative under the Partner Localisation, Response Capacity and Action Platform (PLRCAP), funded by NORCAP- part of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and proudly supported by UKaid. This project is designed to fortify the heartbeat of our local humanitarian response.

At the Northeast Humanitarian Innovation Hub (NEHIH), we recognize that local CSOs are essential to community resilience in Northeast Nigeria. To overcome common operational hurdles, we are embarking on a focused, one-month mission to enhance the systems that make local impact sustainable and accountable.

Throughout this intensive program, NEHIH will bring together local CSO experts to enhance procurement compliance, financial management, monitoring & evaluation, and donor engagement strategies for targeted technical mentoring to strengthen capacity.

By the end of this initiative, our goal is to see NEHIH and fellow local organizations with increased readiness to access and manage donor funding, ensuring Adamawa State’s humanitarian response is led by strong, capable local actors.

A sincere thank you to PLRCAP, NORCAP, and the NRC for their commitment to the localisation agenda and for investing in the future of local leadership. ✨

We are innovating for Local Resilience, and together, we can empower communities to thrive and respond effectively to challenges.

Education is changing, and we’re here to support innovators driving that change. 📚💡

This past weekend, we hosted for a training session with teachers from five secondary schools in Yola. The focus was on “Educators for Peace,” a modern approach that empowers teachers to become agents of peace within their schools and communities.

The goal extended beyond the curriculum; it was about equipping educators with the essential tools and resources to foster empathy, inclusion, conflict resolution, and social responsibility alongside their regular subjects, thereby helping create peaceful, inclusive learning environments that promote a sense of belonging.

We believe that when teachers are empowered to address challenging topics like conflict resolution and inequality, they are not just educating students—they are contributing to a safer, more peaceful future for the entire community. ☮️

We are always proud to support initiatives that champion education and innovation. ✨✌🏽

NEHIH had the privilege of participating in the UNODC Strive Juvenile One-Day Workshop, which is part of the Youth Peace Champions initiative.

Our Programmes Lead, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, was honored to join a distinguished panel that included Ms. Sarah Edgar (Curator, ), Ms. Bilkisu Ahmed Garba (Founder, ), and Mr. Abba-Ali Yerima Mustapha (National Programs Coordinator, UNODC), mediated by Ms. Hameedat Muhammad. Together, they discussed strategies for preventing youth-led violence, highlighting the importance of empowering young people as catalysts for positive change within their communities.

At the Northeast Humanitarian Innovation Hub (NEHIH), we remain committed to peacebuilding and empowering youth to lead positive change. This workshop provided a vital platform for stakeholders to dialogue, share knowledge, and strengthen efforts and collaboration to prevent violence against children.

We extend our gratitude to UNODC ()for organizing this important event and for their dedication to youth empowerment and peace promotion.

We are inspired by the passion of the young people and stakeholders we engaged with, and we look forward to the amazing opportunities that arise from such engagements. 🌱
