Empowering Frontline Responders to Prevent, Mitigate and Respond to Gender-Based Violence Incidents against Survivors, especially Women and Girls.
Today, in partnership with Goggoji Zumunci Development Initiative (GZDI) and funding support from the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF), Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Children Initiative (GEEWCI) concluded a 4-day comprehensive capacity-building training for caseworkers, community volunteers, and safe space facilitators and supervisors of Magumeri LGA of Borno State on the core concepts of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), forms of GBV, effective handling of GBV disclosures, GBV case management, prevention from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) and facilitation of community engagement services.
This impactful training aimed to strengthen the participants’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in providing survivor-centered, confidential, and compassionate support to women and girls survivors of GBV in Magumeri community including other vulnerable individuals at risks and affected by the protracted conflicts. Through interactive sessions, real-life scenarios, and group discussions, participants explored practical strategies for prevention, risk mitigation and response, as well as community engagement services and activities to promote gender equality and protection for all.
By investing in the capacity of frontline actors, GEEWCI continues to reaffirm its commitment to building safer communities, enhancing accountability, and ensuring that every survivor’s voice is heard and respected across the BAY states of the Northeast Nigeria. Together, we are creating a society where women, men, girls, and boys can live free from violence and discrimination.
