Girls in Tech Initiative Community Hosts Inspiring Virtual Seminar on “Women Building with AI”
In commemoration of the International Day of Girls in ICT and International Women's Day, the Girls in Tech Initiative Community successfully hosted an impactful virtual seminar themed “Women Building with AI.” The event brought together aspiring and established women in technology to explore the transformative opportunities Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents for women across various industries.
The seminar featured a lineup of distinguished speakers who shared practical insights, experiences, and opportunities within the rapidly evolving AI landscape, empowering participants to embrace technology and innovation.
The first speaker, Jennifer Perere Gbonhinbor delivered an enlightening session on Prompt Engineering, explaining it as the art and science of giving AI clear, strategic instructions to generate useful and effective results. She emphasized that prompt engineering does not require a coding background, making it an accessible entry point into AI for many women and girls.
Jennifer highlighted that the most successful prompt engineers are individuals who can think critically, communicate clearly, and creatively solve problems. She encouraged participants to develop essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, creativity, research, and patience. She also introduced beginner-friendly AI tools including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, recommending practical exercises such as rewriting prompts, generating social media content, and building reusable prompt templates.
Furthermore, she outlined various income-generating opportunities available within the field, including freelancing, copywriting, AI consulting, content creation, and selling prompt templates. She also cautioned participants against common pitfalls such as over-reliance on AI, providing vague instructions, neglecting fact-checking, and failing to continuously learn and adapt.
The second speaker, STELLA OBUA presented a compelling session on how AI is revolutionizing product development and democratizing access to technology creation. She explained in simple terms what AI is and how it has fundamentally transformed who gets to build technology products.
According to Stella, AI has significantly lowered the barriers to innovation, making it possible for individuals to transform ideas into functional products within days rather than months, often without writing a single line of code. She showcased practical tools such as Uizard for UI/UX design, Lovable.dev and v0 for building full-stack applications, and Claude and ChatGPT for idea validation, content creation, and product development support.
Addressing common concerns women often face regarding technical expertise, limited time, and fear of failure, Stella emphasized that AI tools are uniquely positioned to bridge these gaps. She encouraged participants to leverage AI as a powerful enabler rather than viewing technology as an intimidating field. Her presentation concluded with a powerful message: AI is the great equalizer, a woman's lived experiences are valuable assets in innovation, and there has never been a better time to start building.
Another highlight of the event was the presentation by Kiani Vivian who explored the fascinating world of AI Storytelling and Automation on Autopilot. Her session demonstrated how AI can be utilized to create compelling narratives, automate content creation processes, and enhance digital storytelling, enabling individuals and businesses to communicate more effectively and efficiently.
The seminar concluded with an engaging presentation on AI in Robotics by Anita Ikpat Ngeri, where participants were introduced to the growing intersection between artificial intelligence and robotics. The session highlighted how AI-powered robots are transforming industries, improving efficiency, and creating new opportunities for innovation and problem-solving across sectors.
