ALIKO DANGOTE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, WUDIL LAUNCHES DIRECTORATE OF CAREER SERVICES
Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (ADUSTECH) through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) officially launched the Directorate of Career Services on the 29th of October, 2025, at the university.
The event marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to preparing its students for successful professional and entrepreneurial careers after graduation. The launching ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, principal officers of the university, staff, student representatives, and notable organizations, including the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN ADUSTECH Branch)
The establishment of the Directorate of Career Services is a strategic step aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and career readiness. It is designed to equip students with the essential skills, knowledge, and mindset required to thrive in today’s competitive job market.
The sensitization programme emphasized the importance of career development and self-reliance. Discussions centred on employability, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and the value of practical experience through internships and industry collaborations.
Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai highlighted that the Directorate would serve as a “bridge between academic excellence and industry relevance”, helping students identify their career paths, enhance their competencies, and connect with potential employers and mentors.
The creation of the Directorate of Career Services is a national initiative mandated by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) through the National Universities Commission (NUC) and implemented by TETFund across all Nigerian universities. The policy aims to promote employability, innovation, and youth empowerment by institutionalizing structured career support systems within higher education institutions.
This federal directive underscores the government’s commitment to addressing graduate unemployment and underemployment by ensuring that every graduate possesses the necessary professional and entrepreneurial capabilities to either create jobs or successfully secure gainful employment.
During the sensitization programme, several important topics were discussed, including:
Building employability and transferable skills, navigating career choices and professional growth, the importance of mentorship and networking, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance in the 21st-century economy, aligning academic learning with industry needs
Student participants expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, describing it as timely and transformative. Representatives of various student associations, including MSSN ADUSTECH, commended the university management for the foresight and commitment to student development.
