'Do you know why we're doing this?' was the question we asked the children who won cash gifts for explaining what they understood and learnt from the books given, at our book club day 😁
Can we shock you?
Even with the promise of 2k for reading a book and giving a review, still didn't interest some of the children who hustle on the street.
Why?
It's a systemic challenge we're dealing with in our society. Some may not be good at reading from our experiences yet we encourage you to come, ask, make use of the dictionary. The whole point is literacy empowerment.
The icing on the cake is the funds from donors, cause we want them to believe that intelligence still pays🙏🏽
At MBFSAFESPACES, we reached out to children from the streets on Saturdays for about 2hours, on a lot of educational activities.🌹
We're in for the long run, cause we believe that even 'amajiris' can have a bright future 🙌🏽
