A baking session was organized to train participants in cake and puff puff production. This can be used as a potential business venture for some.

We had a practical, hands-on baking session facilitated by Misan Omunu. Participants learned how to make cake and puff puff from scratch — washing hands, identifying ingredients and tools, sieving, mixing, baking the cake in a sand-filled pot on gas, and frying the puff puff until golden and fluffy.

Both came out fluffy and tasty, and everyone got a taste. We cleaned up afterwards. The session ran past closing time, but it was worth it — a skill that can become a business.

We kicked off our Microsoft Excel series!

Toju Ogharanduku facilitated an engaging intro to Excel — covering the interface, workbooks vs. worksheets, rows, columns, cells, and data entry types like text, numbers, dates, percentages, currency, and formulas.

Participants then went hands-on, collating their team members’ data and saving their work by team name. This will be our working dataset for the next I C T sessions as we journey into data processing and analysis.

Video of our September book review session.

The I CT session was swapped for a digital Book Review, facilitated by Debi Amadedon.

We explored:
🔹 The Creepy Crayon – no shortcuts to academic success; keep trying.
🔹 Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog & Should I Share My Ice Cream – kindness and sharing.
🔹 The Prodigal Son (AI-animated by Agaphy) – gratitude, forgiveness, family love, and second chances.

The Q&A was highly competitive. Correct answers earned gifts like colour pencils, raincoats, and maths sets. Everyone wanted to answer first.

We hosted a back-to-school session to support our participants and their parents as they prepare for the new academic session. Each pack contained notebooks, a flex ruler, a mathematical set, a pen, a pencil, an eraser, and a sharpener — all sealed with the Itsekiri NextGen sticker.

The participants were excitement and echoed a resounding “Thank you, Itsekiri NextGen”which made the day truly special.

We had an amazing session with our participants on what it truly takes to succeed in school and life. To prepare them for the new academic session, Joritse-Debi Amadedon took them through classroom etiquette.

Some key points noted are; ✅ Good behaviour & respect in the classroom
✅ Effective study habits (timetables, goals, note-taking & more!)
✅ Avoiding distractions, getting enough sleep & staying organized and so on.

A student asked, "What should I do if I'm studying but just don't understand?

The answer? Ask for help. Our coordinator shared how she once got stuck on a Data Analytics project and reached out to a friend who helped her finish successfully. Sometimes, the smartest thing you can do is learn from someone who knows more.

Remember: Success = Good manners + Consistent study + Responsibility + Discipline

Let's keep growing and learning together
