Last Saturday was our monthly book review. After reading, participants took turns summarizing their books and sharing key lessons, while both fellow attendees and the coordinator asked questions about the stories reviewed.

But the highlight was Chisom Oniovo.

She was among eight poets but didn't make the top five. When two extra slots opened for the grand finale, she arrived late and missed out.

Did she give up? No.

She asked for the organizer's number, requested permission, and still attended. In the end, she received everything the other girls got—even though she was first denied.

That's resilience. That's determination.

Our girls had a wonderful time at the grand finale of the poetry competition organized by the Ruth Gender Foundation, tagged 'I See the Bigger Picture.'

It gladdens our hearts to see them approach the competition with so much confidence and enthusiasm. They will surely soar beyond the sky.

We continued where we left off, getting our participants ready for the big day and also getting everyone prepared for public speaking. We watched two powerful sample videos (a young kid from Africa and a TEDx speaker) to demonstrate posture, audibility, confidence, and stage presence.

Then our poets took turns performing, with hands-on guidance and corrections from Osamudiamen Weyinmi Igbineweka . So much growth in just one session.

Ani Toju rounded things up with encouraging words and practical advice to keep everyone motivated.

Proud of this team. Can’t wait to see them shine on stage! 👏✨

May your hearts be as bright as the sun over the Warri River, and your smiles as wide as the ocean. You are the pride of our heritage, the keepers of our beautiful Itsekiri language, culture, and traditions.

As you dance to the rhythm of our drums and do exploit remember that you are loved, celebrated, and destined for greatness.

Keep shining, keep dreaming, and keep making the nation proud. The future is yours to lead with courage, kindness, and joy.

Happy children's day!!!💃💃💃💃

Last session, we marked the International Day of the Boy Child. The coordinator and
Toju Ogharandukun gave a talk on the boy child, then did a quick ICT session.

Peace Iyebe later stepped in to prep participants for a poetry competition by Ruth Gender Foundation.

She stressed pace, voice projection, and body language. The participants rehearsed repeatedly with corrections from Peace and other volunteers until she was satisfied.

At the end, the Itsekiri NextGen representatives stayed behind to record their two-minute video in a noise-free space—a key requirement for the final stage of the poetry competition.
