Being Intentional With God
We live in a world that pulls at us constantly—notifications, deadlines, responsibilities, noise. And if we’re not careful, God can slowly be pushed to the margins—not because we don’t love Him, but because we didn’t choose Him first.
Being intentional with God means we don’t leave our relationship with Him to chance, convenience, or leftover time. It means we decide—on purpose—that He is not an afterthought, but the foundation.
Scripture reminds us, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Intentionality says, “God, You are not just part of my life… You are the center of it.”
Too often, we come to God only when we’re desperate, overwhelmed, or broken. And thank God He meets us there. But maturity calls us deeper. Intentionality means we also come to Him when things are calm, when prayers are unanswered, when obedience is uncomfortable, and when no one else is watching.
The Word says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8).
Because real relationship isn’t built in emergencies alone—it’s built in consistency.
Being intentional with God means:
• Choosing prayer before panic (Philippians 4:6–7)
• Choosing obedience over comfort (John 14:15)
• Choosing His voice over every other voice (John 10:27)
• Choosing time with Him even when you’re tired (Mark 1:35)
It’s waking up and saying, “Lord, order my steps today,” knowing that “the steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23).
It’s pausing in the middle of a busy day to whisper, “Holy Spirit, guide me,” trusting that “as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the children of God” (Romans 8:14).
Intentionality requires sacrifice. It may cost you sleep. It may cost you habits. It may cost you relationships that pull you away from God’s will. But what it gives you is far greater—clarity, peace, alignment, and intimacy with God.
Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
When you are intentional with God, your discernment sharpens.
Your spirit becomes sensitive.
Your decisions become rooted, not reactive.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6).
You stop asking, “God, bless what I’m doing,” and start saying,
“God, show me what You’re doing so I can join You.”
And here’s the promise: God honors intentional hearts.
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
This season—don’t just be faithful. Be focused.
Don’t just believe. Be deliberate.
Don’t just know God. Pursue Him.
Because when you are intentional with God, nothing in your life remains accidental.
Your healing becomes purposeful.
Your waiting becomes meaningful.
Your becoming becomes inevitable.
So today, choose Him—on purpose.
Choose Him—daily.
Choose Him—intentionally.
And watch how God meets you in ways you never expected.
