OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT: ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW ACS LOGO AND REBRANDING

The Executive Council of the American Chemical Society (ACS), University of Uyo (UNIUYO) Student Chapter, officially announces the adoption and implementation of the American Chemical Society's newly updated global logo.
This transition aligns our local chapter with the updated brand identity and global parent organisation's vision of the parent organization. The rebrand innovates while upholding our commitment to the advancement of chemical sciences, research, and scientific excellence within the University and community at large.
Key Information for Members and Partners:
• Official Branding: All future publications, official correspondence, event flyers, letterheads, and digital media will feature the updated ACS emblem with immediate effect.
• Transition Period: Existing materials bearing the former logo will be phased out systematically across all chapter channels.
• Usage Guidelines: Executive members, committee leads, and event organisers are requested to obtain the standardised media kit from the Secretariat for any official representations.
The ACS UNIUYO Chapter remains dedicated to empowering students, fostering academic growth, and promoting the impactful application of chemistry. We appreciate the continued support of all Departments included in this body, and our student body as we embrace this updated identity.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, the ACS UNIUYO Student Chapter hosted an engaging webinar themed:
“Emerging Technologies in the Chemical Sciences: Innovations, Career, and Sustainability.”

The session brought together passionate students, young scientists, researchers, and professionals to explore the rapidly evolving intersection of chemistry, technology, innovation, career development, and sustainability.

We had discussions about Artificial Intelligence, machine learning in chemical research, the future of the chemical workforce, industrial applications of emerging technologies, interdisciplinary skills, and sustainable innovation. The session provided participants with valuable perspectives on what it means to remain relevant in a changing scientific landscape.

Our distinguished panelists, Fidelis Peter and Engr. Idongesit F. Oduok, shared practical insights drawn from their experiences in research, industry, academia, innovation, and mentorship.

Beyond the panel discussion, the event also provided an opportunity for members to connect, interact, play games,and unwind.

At ACS UNIUYO, we believe that the future of chemistry is not only about what happens in the laboratory, but also about the ideas, technologies, collaborations, and people shaping what comes next.

A huge thank you to our Faculty Advisor, executives, panelists, members, and everyone who joined us and contributed to making the event a memorable one.
