Protecting the environment is one of Rotary’s key Areas of Focus, dedicated to preserving our natural resources and creating a sustainable future for the benefit of humanity.

For over 121 years, Rotary has remained committed to fostering healthier, safer, and more sustainable communities through impactful environmental initiatives.

In line with this commitment, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Rotary Club of Uyo Shelter Afrique led by Rtn. Patricia Essien-Obot, PHF in partnership with the Rotary Club of Onitsha Royal led by Rtn. Okolieaboh Ifeyinwa Lucian PHF+2, carried out a tree-planting exercise at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, reinforcing Rotary’s dedication to environmental preservation and a greener future.

Rotarians were received by Prof. Ememabasi Bassey, Chief Medical Director of UUTH, alongside members of the hospital’s management team.

Rotary is about people of action, learning, leading, and making a difference together.
