Today, we celebrate the people who choose to make a difference, not because they have to, but because they care.

As Rotaractors, humanitarian service is more than a title to us. It is in the communities we reach, the lives we touch, the hands we lend, and the hope we create.

Every little act of kindness counts. Every person we help matters. And every effort we make towards creating a better world leaves an impact.

This World Humanitarian Day, I am reminded that service above self is not just a motto, it is a way of life.

Let’s continue to serve, connect, inspire and create positive change wherever we find ourselves.

TAKING ROTARACT TO THE STREETS — A DAY OF CONNECTION, SERVICE & IMPACT 💚💛

Yesterday, Rotaract Club of Uyo City took Rotaract beyond the four walls of our meetings and into the streets of Nwaniba, University of Uyo and its environs.

We walked, we connected, we shared our message and most importantly, we listened.

The goal was simple: introduce young people to the values of leadership, service, personal development and community impact, while showing them that Rotaract is more than a club. It is a platform where young people can grow, serve and create meaningful change.

From one conversation to another, every step reminded us that impact begins when we are willing to step out and connect with our community.

We walked. We connected. We served. And we grew with Rotaract. 🌱

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to making the project a success.

This is only the beginning.

BEYOND THE PIN: Spotlighting the Members Creating Lasting Impact in the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis

Meet UTOMOBONG MARVELOUS AMALU, PHF

A Registered Nurse and Midwife whose passion for healthcare is matched by her commitment to humanitarian service through Rotary. She currently serves as Secretary of the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis (2025–2027) and Secretary of the State Polio Committee (2025/26 and 2026/27), and Akwa Ibom State Representative for Rotary Family Health Days, playing an active role in advancing Rotary’s public health and polio eradication initiatives.

She previously served as the first Female District Rotaract Representative (2020/21) and President of the Rotaract Club of Uyo City (CB) (2015/16), President, School of Nursing Alumni, Anua Campus (2023 till date), providing visionary leadership and inspiring service among young professionals. While in school she served as the Class Secretary (2012–2015) and Class Welfare Director (2012–2015). She was passionate and very committed in school politics, thus earning her the position of the Secretary General in SUG, Anua Campus. Utomobong continues to maintain dual membership in Rotary and Rotaract, reflecting her enduring dedication to fellowship, leadership development, and community impact.

She is happily married to Rotarian Tochukwu Amalu, PHF, and together they are blessed with three children: Chimamanda, Kosisochukwu, and Kenechukwu.

She is a professional chef and CEO of Deeteel Events, a brand that was conceived out of her passion for cooking. To her, the brand is to serve people of all strata in life, as the aim is to deliver quality yet affordable meals. She loves adventure, traveling, and making good friends. She’s a jolly good fellow anywhere she finds herself.
