These organizations jointly organized and sponsored a Free Medical Outreach Project during the commissioning of the remodeled Out Patient Department, New Laboratory and Consulting Rooms of the hospital on October 1st 2025 by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. John E. Ayah, Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese — a moment that marked both renewal and service to humanity.”

2025 TWINS NATIONAL CONVENTION

A non-governmental Organization, Twin Alive foundation has called on the United Nation and The Federal government to adopt December 2nd as a day to celebrate Mary Slessor globally for stopping the killings of twins in Nigeria.

The progenitor of the foundation, Mr. Jude Idiongesit Mbonmkponam who is also a twin in an interview with Radio Nigeria said the signing of the petition would go a long way to immortalize the wonderful deeds of Mary Slessor.

Mr. Idiongesit said the day holds a great significance, since it was the birthday of Mary Slessor who was born on December 2nd 1848.

This year’s convention will hold between Wednesday, November 26 to Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Pastoral Centre Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

On activities to mark the day, the progenitor Mr. Idiongesit said, the foundation will be giving back to the communities as it will be having an outreach that involves free medical services, eye checkup and free glasses, to commemorate the humanitarian attributes of Marry Slessor.

Mary Slessor was a Scottish Presbyterian missionary to Nigerian who fought for women’s right and rescued children from infanticide, especially twins.
