Catch Them Young and Watch Them Grow Initiative

Yesterday, I led the team of Catch Them Young and Watch Them Grow Foundation to Comprehensive Secondary school Iwaiwa Usung Eket in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria for a school outreach as part of our mentor mandate of the foundation.

Catch Them Young and Watch Them Grow Foundation is a non governmental organisation saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that young primary and post primary schools are prepared for life after school through support and mentorship sessions like this.

It was a transformative and life changing experience for 300 plus students who were impacted via talks on Sexual Abuse, personal development and responsibility, character development and building, spirituality and lots more.

The high point of the day was those children recognising God as their personal Lord and saviour who is the foundation with which their success in life will be predicated upon.

This event wouldn't have been possible without the corporation of the principal of the school Mr Anietie Ubiong who was full of praise for the foundation stressed the need for other NGO to emulate this gesture. We appreciate Mrs Nsidibe Mbuotidem Sampson-Ebong whose hardwork and collaboratige ensured the day was hyper colourful.

We won't forget to appreciate the VP 1, VP 2 and the entire staff of the school, amazing women doing impact in that school.

We appreciate our core volunteers in Barr Mary Umanah and Mrs Abasiama Nkanta despite their busy schedules made Shure they were available to mentor this young minds. We won't stop appreciating our sponsors and volunteers who wished to be available but couldn't attend the event.

Catch Them Young and Watch Them Grow Foundation has come to stay, as God tarries we will continue to do everything possible to play our part in ensuring we groom the next generation God and humanity will be proud of.

The school in question does not have a toilet, and we are considering taking that up as a project, we call on you to partner with us or you want to sponsor this project I ensure that school has a function restroom 🚻, please call send a DM as well.

The passion to see the world better started in 2014 while in pharmacy school. I joined our fellowship (National fellowship of Christian Pharmacy Students) for an outreach at Lutheran High school Obot Idim and I saw real human need of helping primary and secondary school students especially in public schools better prepare for life with requisite knowledge and life skills. We started officially in 2019 while serving in Ibadan and today, we are in Ibesikpo Asutan to do the Lord's work.

Earlier today, Catch Them Young and Watch Them Grow Foundation visited Comprehensive Secondary Commercial School Ikot Oku Ubo Offot, Uyo Akwa Ibom State to share useful information that will change the lives of these young students.

Even when the school is preparing for their school inter-house sport, some students were still eager to join us to listen to the message of personal development, responsibility, self discovery and awareness, skill discovery, development and deployment, spirituality, values, character development, sexuality and studentship, etc.

It's a busy day for our team members and volunteers but what has to be done has to be done.

It was a beautiful and life changing experience for these young minds. I can't wait for next week Friday so we can have another time with them, then we will have a full house.

History was yet again made on the 30th January, 2026 as Esteems Schools Abak played host to CATCH THEM YOUNG AND WATCH THEM GROW FOUNDATION, a non governmental organisation saddled with duty and responsibility of collaborating with parents, schools, churches and other like minded initiatives to mentor and groom young people in primary and post primary school to grow up to be responsible members of the society and the world at large.

The students were admonished on topics like Character building, Values, personal responsibility and development, self awareness and discovery, spirituality, career choices, skills and talent discovery, development and deployment. It was a wonderful experience for those young minds as they were engaging, excited and open to learning new things.

Volunteers on ground were Barr Mary Umanah and Pharm Samuel Mbuk.

We extend our appreciation to the management and staff of Esteems Schools Abak under the leadership of Mrs Item Ubom for always opening their doors to us.
