*Day 9: Say No to Female Ge***al Mutilation*

Cutting, tearing, damaging or disfiguring any part of a woman or girl’s va**na is a crime, not tradition. Under the law, no parent, elder, or anyone has the right to harm a girl’s body. Female Ge***al Mutilation causes bleeding, infection, trauma, and lifelong pain. If you carry out FGM or support it, you’ve committed a crime and can go to prison for 4 years when convicted. A woman’s body deserves respect and protection, not harm and shame. We strongly condemn FGM in all forms.

If you know anywhere that this heinous crime is still happening, please speak up. Don’t keep quiet. *Call 09169009111* or visit Room 8, Ministry of Justice, State Secretariat, Uyo.

When they say blood is thicker than water, there must be a limit to that imagination.

In**st is an abomination!
It is a crime against God and humanity, as it violates the natural order.
How can a human strip naked and stand before a child he/she gave birth to or another blood relation?
Please let no one condone such acts within our communities because it brings reproach and shame to all of us.
It is our collective responsibility to protect our children and relatives from perpetrators and not to become perpetrators ourselves!

It is also wrong to groom minors to think in**st is the way family show love.

*Day 6: Stalking is a Crime*

Do you know that constantly monitoring, following, or tracking someone in a way that makes them feel scared, unsafe, or uncomfortable is not “love” or “care”? Under the Akwa Ibom State Violence Against Persons Prohibition - VAPP Law, that behavior is called stalking and it is a criminal offense. It includes waiting outside someone’s workplace, school, or home without permission; repeatedly calling, texting, or DMing after they say stop; tracking their movements using phone apps or asking others to watch them; and showing up everywhere they go to intimidate them. The law does not care if it’s a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, or ex. If your actions make the person fear for their safety, you can be prosecuted and jailed for up to 2 years. Love protects, it does not stalk.

If you are experiencing this, or you know someone being followed and harassed, you don’t have to manage it alone. The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Justice offers counseling, mediation, and legal support at no cost. Call *09169009111* or visit Room 8, Ministry of Justice, State Secretariat, Uyo.

*Day 5: We condemn Spousal Battery*

There is absolutely no excuse for a husband or wife to slap, punch, kick, bite, or use any weapon to hit his or her spouse. You never can tell where that punch or slap will land. It may lead to death or grievous injuries.

Please learn to resolve issues peacefully. If you can no longer tolerate your spouse or can not stop yourself from lashing out, please talk to us, and we can help you explore options for an amicable settlement.

If you or someone you know is being beaten by a spouse, please speak up. Help is available. Contact Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Justice for counselling, mediation, and legal support: *Call 09169009111*, or visit Room 8, Ministry of Justice, State Secretariat, Uyo.
