It is becoming more difficult to function effectively in today’s world without basic knowledge of digital applications. Many activities that were once done manually are now carried out through digital platforms.

As Digital knowledge is no longer merely an advantage but a basic necessity. Individuals who develop strong digital skills are better prepared to participate in today’s increasingly digital world.

We visited the digital scholarship students Etinyene James Umana, Success Ime Jackson, Goodluck Christopher Effiong and Esther Utibe Okon at their training center, sponsored by PedaAfrica Charity Foundation and LAskill Training Center.

Recognizing Umanah, Eti-Inyene James for outstanding performance and emerging as Best Student during the Digital Literacy training at Community Comprehensive School, Ikot Nsung Nkono, Uyo, organized by PedaAfrica Charity Foundation in partnership with Training Center, 100Folds ICT, Oria Digitals and -roi Legacy Initiative.

Eti-Inyene Umanah is also one of the beneficiaries of the one month Tech. Scholarship sponsored by LAskill and PedaAfrica.

PedaAfrica Charity Foundation has successfully concluded its four-week Digital Literacy Project at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Nsung Ikono, Uyo, marking another milestone in its commitment to promoting digital inclusion and quality education. The project was designed to bridge the gap between rural schools and digital learning by equipping students with essential digital knowledge and practical technology skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

The final week featured a comprehensive assessment covering all topics taught throughout the training. The examination evaluated the knowledge and skills acquired by the students, with over 75% of participants scoring above average. These results reflect the effectiveness of the programme and the successful achievement of its objectives.

In recognition of exceptional performance, Training Training Center and PedaAfrica Charity Foundation awarded four (3:1 respectively) outstanding students with Tech. scholarships to undergo a one month training in any technology skill of their choice, beginning from 3rd of August to 4th of September, 2026.

Certificates of participation were presented to all the 50 students, while high-performing participants received special recognition for their achievements.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Dorathy Sunday Udofia, expressed her appreciation and commended the Executive Director of PedaAfrica, Mrs. Aniekan-Abasi John, and her team for bringing such an impactful project to the school. She also acknowledged the organization's partners for their valuable contributions. Furthermore, she encouraged the outstanding students who were awarded scholarships to make the most of the opportunity and remain committed to academic excellence.

We acknowledge the project Lead, MrTommy Emem for ensuring every process of the project was a success. We also appreciate our partners 100Folds ICT, LAskill Training Centre, Oria Digitals and -roi Legacy Initiative, as well as our volunteers for their collective role in the success of this project.

The successful completion of the initiative reaffirms the Foundation's commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that students in rural communities have access to meaningful digital learning opportunities and the need for quality education.

To bridge the digital divide in rural schools, week 3 of the Digital Literacy Project hosted by PedaAfrica Charity Foundation at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Nsung, Ikono, was facilitated by Miss Archibong Happiness of El-roi Legacy Initiative and Mr. Ephraim Ukent of Oria Digitals, who delivered practical training on Internet usage and safety.

The training adopted an interactive approach, allowing students to engage demonstratively on how to use the internet for educational research, communication and innovation.

Compared to the first week of the project, there was a noticeable increase in student participation and familiarity with the concepts introduced, indicating steady progress in the achievement of the project's objectives.

Through this initiative, PedaAfrica Charity Foundation remains committed to expanding access to digital education and equipping students in underserved communities with the foundational knowledge required to participate effectively in today's digital environment.

We acknowledge the contributions of Elroi Legacy Initiative, Oria Digitals, LAskill Training Center, and 100 Folds ICT for their partnership and support in the implementation of this project. where students received practical digital literacy training to enhance their academic and digital competencies.

Week 2 of the Digital Literacy Project, organized by PedaAfrica Charity Foundation at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Nsung Ikono, marked another important step in bridging the digital divide for rural students.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Izuoba Charles, Founder and Executive Director of LAskill Training Center, who introduced students to basic computer operations through interactive demonstrations. Beginning with a discussion about a wireless mouse, he engaged students before guiding them through practical lessons on using a mouse, typing, formatting documents, creating folders, and saving and opening files.

The school's principal commended PedaAfrica and its partners for bringing the initiative to the school. She shared that she had never learned to use a computer herself, highlighting the importance of equipping students with digital skills early and encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity.

A major highlight was the announcement by Mr. Charles that LAskill Training Center will award a fully funded scholarship to one outstanding student to study a technology skill of their choice. Students who actively participated during the session also received prizes.

As the Digital Literacy Project progresses, it is inspiring to witness students gaining practical digital skills and becoming more confident in their ability to interact with technology. This reinforces PedaAfrica's commitment to preparing young learners in rural communities not to be left behind in an increasingly digital world.
