As part of the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II) Project, Clement Isong Foundation, in collaboration with ActionAid Nigeria, supported the Young Political Candidates Engagement on Effective Leadership, Legislative Engagement and Good Governance, convened by The Ambeghe Movement in partnership with the Electoral College Nigeria. The engagement brought together young political aspirants, elected and prospective candidates, civil society actors, and civic educators to strengthen youth leadership capacity, deepen understanding of legislative processes, and promote ethical, accountable, and inclusive governance.

The engagement concluded with the adoption of a communiqué outlining key observations, resolutions, and a phased action plan to expand voter participation, combat vote-buying, strengthen civic education, and build a sustainable youth-led civic movement across Akwa Ibom State. Through the SPA II Project, Clement Isong Foundation and ActionAid Nigeria remain committed to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to drive democratic participation, ethical leadership, and good governance ahead of the 2027 elections.

As part of the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II) Project, Clement Isong Foundation is engaging political parties across Akwa Ibom State to advance youth and young women's political inclusion ahead of the 2027 General Elections. During its engagement with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, the Foundation introduced the Political Inclusion Compact and facilitated discussions on practical commitments that will strengthen the participation and leadership of young people and women within the party.

The engagement reinforced a shared commitment to promoting inclusive democratic governance and ensuring that political participation is open to all, especially young women and other underrepresented groups. By aligning with the objectives of the Political Inclusion Compact, the party joins a growing movement towards fostering transparent, accountable, and inclusive political processes that can be monitored throughout the 2027 electoral cycle.

Under the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II) Project, Clement Isong Foundation continues to advance youth and young women's political participation ahead of Nigeria's 2027 General Elections. As part of the Political Inclusion Compact Signing and Engagement with Political Parties, the Foundation engaged the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, on the need for party-specific commitments that promote inclusive political leadership, strengthen internal democratic processes, and create greater opportunities for young people and young women within the party.

The engagement provided a platform for constructive dialogue on the Political Inclusion Compact, with the party aligning with the vision of fostering a more inclusive political environment where youth and women can actively participate in leadership and decision-making. This marks another important step towards building accountable political institutions and ensuring that commitments to political inclusion remain measurable and trackable ahead of the 2027 elections.

Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Advancing Agroecology for Sustainable Food Systems in Akwa Ibom State brought together Clement Isong Foundation, under the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II) Project with ActionAid Nigeria, and the Akwa Ibom State Agriculture and Food Security Committee to strengthen partnerships for a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food system. The engagement provided a platform for government, experts, and development partners to deliberate on practical pathways for promoting agroecology across the state.

Outcomes of the dialogue included commitments to deepen collaboration among key ministries and stakeholders, intensify public awareness on agroecology and organic food consumption, promote demonstration farms and dedicated organic input supply systems, strengthen market access for agroecological products, identify key actors for coordinated action, and advance policy and advocacy efforts that will accelerate the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices across Akwa Ibom State.

Clement Isong Foundation paid a strategic advocacy visit to the Akwa Ibom State Committee on Agriculture and Food Security to strengthen collaboration on advancing agroecology across the State. The meeting focused on creating sustainable pathways for farmer sensitization, improving access to organic inputs, establishing demonstration farms, and building stronger market opportunities for young agroecological farmers.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of multi-sector partnerships, awareness creation, and coordinated action among government ministries and key stakeholders to drive the adoption of agroecological practices. Together, we are laying the foundation for a more resilient, healthy, and sustainable food system in Akwa Ibom State.

Following the advocacy walk, participants converged at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Hall for the Horganicks Organic Farmers’ Onboarding Programme, where farmers were introduced to a digital platform designed to improve market access, build consumer confidence in organic produce, and connect organic farmers with buyers. The session also provided an opportunity to discuss key challenges affecting organic farming and practical approaches to sustainable agriculture.

The engagement strengthened collaboration among AFTA, Clement Isong Foundation (CIF), Horganicks, SWOFON, and farmers’ groups, while reinforcing the shared commitment to advancing climate-smart agriculture, improving soil health, and expanding access to affordable organic inputs for a more resilient and sustainable food system.

Under the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II), the Agroecology and Food Transformation Systems Alliance (AFTA) led a peaceful advocacy walk to the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Agriculture, calling for the subsidization of organic agricultural inputs, the integration of organic inputs into government support programmes, and stronger policy commitments towards safe, healthy, and sustainable food systems. Participants, including young farmers’ groups, SWOFON, civil society organizations, and agroecology advocates, marched with advocacy placards and submitted a Memorandum of Demand to the Ministry’s Administrative Office for onward transmission to the Honourable Commissioner.

Together, we continue to amplify the voices of farmers and advocate for policies that promote agroecology, strengthen food systems, and ensure safe, affordable food for every household in Akwa Ibom State.
