Sir Ratan Tata was a billionaire Indian industrialist from a wealthy Zoroastrian Parsee clan who led Tata Group into global expansion, which made acquisitions of billion dollar portfolio companies like British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover from Ford and UK Steel plants.

Born in Mumbai, Ratan attended prep schools in India before he moved to the US to study at one of the Ivy League universities, Cornell University. Having worked briefly in Los Angeles where he was reported to have nearly fallen in love and got married, Ratan never married and had no children in his 87 years of existence.

Rajan Tata, through his industrial contributions as the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, was considered as one of the driving forces of making India the fifth-largest economy globally in 2022.

He was a philanthropist, had a reputation for straight-dealing, and despite having a good taste for flashy cars and private jets, he maintained a modest lifestyle with alluring humility.

One of his famous quotes was: If I had a family, I could not have spent as much of my time involved with the group. And, things would be very different, in terms of eating, sleeping, living for your job.

Only God gives and creates opportunities that men would normally have dragged their feet and leverage not in their good offices. Appreciate those who made the effort to get you established.
