🌿 Big News from WUEE! 🌿
We are proud to announce the launch of our Gutter Cleaning and Malaria Prevention Project — a 6-month community health initiative started August 4, 2026!
🦟 Malaria kills thousands of Nigerians every year — and one of the biggest culprits is right outside our doors: clogged, stagnant gutters that become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Together with our community health workers, trained volunteers, and local partners, WUEE is taking action. Over the next 26 weeks, we will:
✅ Systematically clean and clear gutters across 10 streets in Uyo Village Communities, Uyo LGA, Akwa Ibom State
✅ Apply WHO-approved, environmentally safe larvicides to eliminate mosquito larvae
✅ Deliver malaria health education to households and community groups
✅ Train community volunteers in safe gutter maintenance practices
✅ Monitor malaria case trends to measure real impact
This is more than a clean-up — it's a life-saving mission. 💚
📍 Project Area: Akpakpan Street, Okokon Etuk, Ekpeyong, Afia, Utang, Gibbs, Paul Bassey, Ekpo Obot & Udo Street — Uyo Village Communities, Uyo LGA, Akwa Ibom State
📅 Project Period: August 4, 2026 – January 30, 2027
