On Thursday 19 February 2026, WADPN-Nigeria successfully convened the 2026 1st Quarter Hybrid Training Workshop for members.

We explored International and Regional Drug Control Systems and Regulatory Frameworks and examined they impact Nigeria’s drug policy and legal frameworks, and the state of their implementation within Nigeria's in-country response.

Grateful to our speakers, partners, and participants for their contribution to advancing drug policy and sustainability of harm reduction in Nigeria.

In collaboration with the Senate Committee on Drugs & Narcotics, YouthRISE Nigeria kicked off the Capacity Building for Senior Legislative Aides on Comprehensive Health Sector Response: Complementing Law Enforcement in Curbing Drug Abuse in Nigeria.

The training strengthens SLAs’ understanding of national drug control efforts, evidence-based responses, and their critical role in shaping effective legislation.

From policy conversations to lived-experience sessions and myth-busting trivia, the dialogue was practical and solutions-focused.

Sustainable national harm reduction program equally requires evidence informed legislative agenda. 🇳🇬

Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) is a harmful practice with no medical benefit.

In Nigeria, millions are still affected, often from a very young age.

Join YouthRISE Nigeria as we raise awareness, and commit to protecting every girl from FGM.

When people speak, you listen. 💬

We asked attendees how the We Are People Conference impacted them, and their responses reflected learning, connection, and renewed commitment to empathy, dignity, and inclusion.

These voices remind us why this work matters.

Echoes from

“The future we are building must be one where empathy leads, rights are upheld, and no young person is left behind.”

Dr. Adeolu Adebiyi — Visioneer of the We Are People campaign and Member, West Africa Commission on Drugs shared compelling insights on the urgent need to defend the dignity of young people who are too often marginalised because of their habits, lived realities, or social status.

He expressed optimism for the transformative recommendations emerging from WAP25 and called for true inclusion, where young people are not just talked about, but are at the decision-making table.
