Our staff, along with the Caritas Nigeria team, members of the , and other stakeholders, are collaborating to harmonize for June 2026. This meeting took place at the Obehie Centre in LGA, Abia State, on July 1, 2026.
This project is part of the Global Fund Round 7 (GC7) being implemented by Micd Nigeria in Abia State.

The project is managed by (Principal Recipient) in partnership with the Catholic Caritas Foundation Nigeria (sub-recipient). Its goal is to ensure early diagnosis of tuberculosis and HIV and to provide comprehensive care for affected individuals in the community.

Our Executive Director, Chima Jeff Megwei, participated in the Lagos Regional Workshop on “Truth at the Ballot: Strengthening Media and Civil Society for Democratic and Peaceful Elections in Nigeria", convened at Gulf View Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, from 22 – 24 June 2026, under the European Union Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) Project, implemented by in partnership with the Fundación para la Internacionalización de las Administraciones Públicas (FIAP).

The Workshop deepened participants' knowledge on Pre-election Context Analysis, tools for fact-checking, Hate Speech and Narrative Analysis, Gender-sensitive and Youth-inclusive Reporting, safe journalism during elections, etc.

MIC-D's plan to use the GC7 platform to extend our Education initiative is driven by compelling statistics that demonstrate the interrelationship between health and educational attainment among children in Abia State. Health is a foundational element in children's educational journey, affecting cognitive development, school attendance, and learning potential. Well-nourished and healthy students are more energized and focused, displaying a greater readiness to learn, whereas health challenges such as malnutrition and lack of mental health support can hamper academic success. On May 13, 2026, MIC-D launches an extension of o comprehensive tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV services to uniform service men and women at Mopol Barracks in Ukwa East LGA, Abia State. This program, implemented in collaboration with KNCV, Caritas, IHVN, the Global Fund, Abia State government, and the Ukwa East community, prioritizes community responses and health equity, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal Target 3.3 to end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases by 2030.

MIC-D extended its health programs to National High Secondary School and Police Children School in Azumini, Abia State, on May 11th and 12th, 2026, offering health education and preventive services for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. This initiative is supported by KNCV, Caritas, IHVN, The Global Fund, and the Abia State government through the Global Fund's Grant Cycle 7, emphasizing community-led and gender-responsive approaches.
