PACEI TAKES THE MESSAGE TO UBAKALA COMMUNITY IN ABIA STATE!
πŸŽ‰ International Day of the Girl Child 2026
Theme: β€œEnd Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights!”
Pact for Community and Environmental Impact (PACEI) successfully carried out an outreach in Ubakala Community, Abia State, to mark the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child, engaging girls aged 11–16 years.
The outreach focused on raising awareness about girls’ rights, the importance of education, preventing child marriage, personal safety, and empowering girls to speak up, believe in themselves, and pursue their dreams.
As part of the outreach, PACEI printed a Girl-Child Pledge for the girls to sign and take home. Through this activity, the girls made a personal commitment to value their rights, remain focused on their education, speak up when they need help, support other girls, and believe in their future. Taking the pledge home also gave them an opportunity to share its message with their families and communities.
As part of our commitment to girls’ health, dignity, and well-being, PACEI provided menstrual hygiene kits to the girls. This support promoted menstrual hygiene and encouraged the girls to manage their periods with confidence and dignity.
Every girl deserves access to education, a safe environment, menstrual hygiene support, and the opportunity to achieve her dreams. No girl should be forced into child marriage or denied the chance to fulfil her potential.
At PACEI, we believe that investing in girls means investing in stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for everyone.
Together, let us end child marriage and build a future where every girl can enjoy her rights and pursue her dreams.

🌍 PACT at the 6th Youth, Peace & Security Conference & Awards 2026

On 30 September 2026, PACT for Community and Environmental Impact participated in the 6th Youth, Peace & Security (YPS) Conference & Awards 2026, held at the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Abuja.

The conference brought together young people, civil society organisations, government representatives, development partners, peace practitioners and other stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to strengthening peace, security and meaningful youth participation in Nigeria.

A key message from the conference was that peace requires continuous investment and collective responsibility. Discussions focused on youth development and opportunities, education and vocational skills, girl-child safety and education, community dialogue, responsible information sharing, and inclusive approaches to peacebuilding.

For PACT, the engagement provided an opportunity to learn, connect with stakeholders and identify areas for further collaboration around youth development, community resilience, peacebuilding and sustainable community development.

We believe that sustainable peace is built through dialogue, inclusion, education, opportunity and collective action. Young people must not only be beneficiaries of peace initiatives but active contributors to peace and development in their communities.

PACT remains committed to promoting community-led action that contributes to safer, more inclusive and resilient communities.

🀝 Invest in Peace. Invest in People. Invest in Communities.

πŸ•ŠοΈ International Day of Peace | 21 September

Peace is not simply the absence of conflict. It is the presence of understanding, dignity, justice, inclusion, and the willingness to work together.

Today, PACT – Pact For Community and Environmental Impact joins communities around the world to celebrate the International Day of Peace and to reflect on the kind of communities we want to build.

At PACT, we believe that peace begins with each of us. It grows when we listen to one another, respect our differences, protect human dignity, include those whose voices are often unheard, and choose dialogue over division.

Peace is also connected to the environment around us. Communities cannot truly thrive where people lack a safe and healthy environment, where resources are unequally accessed, or where vulnerable people are excluded from decisions that affect their lives.

Today, we renew our commitment to building communities where everyone can belong, participate, be heard, and live with dignity.

Let us choose dialogue over violence.
Let us choose inclusion over exclusion.
Let us choose cooperation over division.
Let us choose action over indifference.

🌍 Together, we can build peaceful, inclusive and sustainable communities.

Peace begins with us.

πŸ“’ ANNOUNCEMENT

This is to inform women groups in Nigeria, and community-based organizations in the South East, that we have completed the FGD report titled:

"A Study on Gender-Based Violence in Rural Communities in South East Nigeria"

This report is dedicated to every woman in rural Nigeria who has experienced violence and been told to remain silent.
➑️ We hear you.
➑️ We believe you.
➑️ And we commit to using these findings to advocate for the safety, dignity, and justice you deserve.

πŸ”Ή Special acknowledgments go to:

LBQ women who participated in Abia State – your bravery ensures you will not be invisible in this report.

Female s*x workers in Imo and Anambra States – you have shown that s*x workers are powerful advocates for their own safety and dignity.

Widows who lost not only husbands but homes, property, and community standing – your resilience is remarkable.

Young women who shared stories of abuse, exploitation, and lost opportunities – your hopes remind us why this work matters.

We also thank local women's groups, community health workers, women-led CBOs, traditional leaders, community mobilizers, and Community Rights Advocates who helped make this study possible – often at personal risk.

πŸ“§ To request access to the report, please send an email to:
[email protected]

We are working to upload the report to our website once our developer completes the work.

With gratitude to the communities of Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Anambra States for trusting us with this difficult but necessary conversation.

As we celebrate International Earth Day, we want to bring attention to the growing impact of human activities on our environment and the urgent need for climate action.

Across our communities, we are witnessing the consequences every day:
Flooded streets after heavy rains.
Extreme heat.
Polluted air and water.
Trees disappearing.
Waste filling our drains and rivers.

These are not just environmental problems β€” they are threats to our health, our livelihoods, and our future.

The painful truth is that many of these problems are caused by everyday human actions:
❌ Burning waste openly
❌ Dumping plastics carelessly
❌ Cutting down trees without replacement
❌ Polluting our environment
❌ Wasting energy and natural resources

But there is still hope.

The same people contributing to climate change can also become the people protecting the planet.

This Earth Day, let us make better choices:
βœ… Plant more trees
βœ… Keep our environment clean
βœ… Recycle and reuse waste
βœ… Save water and electricity
βœ… Support climate awareness in our communities

The Earth gives us life every day.
Now, it is our turn to protect it.

Together, let us build a cleaner, greener, and safer future for generations to come.

🌍 Be part of the solution, not the pollution.
