ABIA YOUTH PRIORITIES 2027: FROM YOUTH VOICES TO GOVERNMENT ACTION
Today, Progressive Abia Youths (PAY) took another important step in its commitment to ensuring that young people are not merely beneficiaries of government policies, but active participants in shaping the future of Abia State.
We officially presented the Abia Youth Priorities 2027 to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Abia State, following a digital survey designed to capture the aspirations, concerns and priorities of young people across the state.
Led by our Project Manager, Mr. Innocent Jonah Kalu, the PAY team presented the findings and explained the data behind the priorities contained in the document.
The Honourable Commissioner appreciated the initiative and the effort of the team. He also acknowledged the importance of engaging young people in governance and shared insights into ongoing youth empowerment initiatives of the Abia State Government.
Importantly, the Commissioner noted that the engagement came at a critical time, as the government is rounding off its budget preparation process. He committed to studying the document and considering the priorities presented.
This is more than a presentation.
It is youth advocacy moving from conversation to policy engagement.
It is young people putting their priorities on the table.
It is evidence being placed before government.
And for us at Progressive Abia Youths, this is only the beginning.
We believe that Abia's future cannot be designed without Abia's young people at the table.
The Abia Youth Priorities 2027 is our contribution to building a more responsive, inclusive and youth-centred Abia.
