𝗔𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 FOR INDIGENT STUDENTS: 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦
The Alex Otti Foundation has become a major player in educating the underclass in Abia state in tertiary institutions across Nigeria. With the increase in knowledge this 21st century, accentuated by cutting edge scientific, technological and philosophical innovations and inventions, access to quality education has become imperative, perhaps, a survival tool in today’s global and dynamic world. However, the more the need for quality education, the more it becomes a mirage for the underclass who can not afford the skyrocketing cost of education, particularly at the tertiary level. It is on this note that the Alex Otti Foundation stands in the gap between the cost of education and the aspirations of brilliant and talented students who are at the edge of society. Through deliberate and structured interventions, the foundation keeps offering financial support to these students at the margins.
Recognising the needs of students at the margins of Abia state, the Alex Otti Foundation invites applications for the 2025/2026 Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme, with its target undergraduate students who are ancestrally from—or currently residing in—Abia State.
𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗬
1. 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The application is open to students who have completed their second-semester 100-level examinations and are progressing to 200-level, as well as those who were admitted in the 2024/2025 session (this is because of irregularities and non-uniformity in school calendars across public tertiary institutions).
2. 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲:Candidates must have achieved a minimum CGPA of 3.5 (on a 5.0 scale) or its equivalent in their first year of study.
3. 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Candidates who recently secured direct entry admission into 200-level (and will still be in their second year by April 2026) are also eligible.
4. Regular Students: Candidates must be undergraduate students on regular programs in academic tertiary institutions as the scholarship is not open to students in part-time, sandwich, or any other similar programs.
𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁: signed statement of results for the first academic session issued by the Department or Faculty Admin Officer (a representative of the Registrar). Direct entry applicants must provide their qualifying examination results.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Candidates must present any of the following as proof of residence in Abia State: a letter of recognition from a community/religious leader or a utility bill (covering the three months preceding the interview.
𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (1,200 words): Applicants must write an essay covering the following topics, dedicating 400 words to each:
a) What for you is the greatest innovation of the 21st century?
b) How did it impact you as a person?
c) How can third-world countries like Nigeria leverage the innovation for development?
Note: The foundation insists on original thoughts in the essay as any form of plagiarism and copious use of artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to the disqualification of the candidate.
𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: A recognized means of identification must be provided.
𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗬
Siblings of current Alex Otti Foundation scholars are ineligible until their sibling’s scholarship tenure is completed. However, siblings of past Alex Otti Foundation graduates are eligible to apply.

The application portal closes at midnight on Wednesday, April 12, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Indigent students—those whose families can not afford or struggle to fund tertiary education—are encouraged to apply. Those with the financial means to pay for their education should consider stepping aside as a way of giving back to society.
