“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our ‘Amen’ (which means ‘Yes’) ascends to God for his glory.” (2 Corinthians 1:20NLT)

According to Bible Gateway, there are 5,467 promises in the Bible. For believers, all these promises have been fulfilled through the birth, death and resurrection of Christ. Wow! Why are we not getting all of them? Let's explore together: Jesus said “the truth you know will set you free”. (John 8:32) The greatest promise is found in John3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

ACTION: In faith, let's begin today to access one promise per day as we search the Scriptures, know them and use them. God’s word will accomplish its purpose.

PRAYER: O God, strengthen us to do what we need to do in order to conquer.

God is gracious!

“The Lord is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger and great in loving kindness.” (Psalm 145:8 RSV)

Grace and mercy are two attributes of God which are often mixed up. Grace is God giving us something we do not deserve (eternal life), while mercy is God not giving us what we do deserve (damnation). Grace is eternal, so we cannot lose it or earn it. It is most needed in the midst of sin and suffering. Theologians differentiate between God’s common grace and His saving grace. All men benefit from common grace - enjoying the blessings of life, provision and abundance. However, only those who believe and put their faith in Christ receive saving grace, that we might live for Him in this life and for eternity.

ACTION: Pray for God’s grace and mercy. Trust in His grace.

PRAYER: Father, please show us Your mercy and grace even when we fail You.

God is merciful!

“Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy.” (Micah 7:18)

God delights in mercy: forgiveness and withholding punishment. He pardons sin and forgives transgression of the repentant readily and not grudgingly. We receive life through faith in Christ, not because we deserve it, but because of God’s mercy. Without the mercy of God, we would have no hope of heaven. Man’s suffering and guilt brought about by sin is what calls forth the mercy of God, which otherwise would remain hidden.

ACTION: We do not have to wallow in misery and pain but should be repentant and cry out for God’s infinite mercy.

PRAYER: Oh Lord our Father, please show us Your mercy on all fronts and set us free from the bo***ge of sin and guilt, in Jesus name, Am

God is just!

“He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is! (Deuteronomy 32:4 NLT)

The dictionary defines ‘just’ as 'behaving according to what is morally right and fair’, but in the Bible ‘just’ means to treat people equitably and give them their rights. It means acquitting or punishing every person on the merits of the case, regardless of race or social status. As Christians, we struggle to be just in our dealings with others, but God is infinitely just, fair, always right and perfect, sparing the repentant sinner through the atonement work of Christ while sentencing evil, unrepentant sinners to hell.

ACTION: Repent of any sin and disobedience and receive justification through God’s mercy paid for through Christ.

PRAYER: Father God, we plead for your justification in mercy through the blood of Jesus, and not through our own righteousness.

God is good!

“The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:7)

Our God is good, kind and merciful; compassionate and willing to bless His people and fill them with joy and peace. It is easy to acknowledge and praise God when things are good, but when we face difficulties, it can be quite challenging. However, it is at times like this that we should hold on to this attribute of God, believe and affirm His goodness with expectations that He will bring us through it in such a way that His name is glorified and it turns out best for us.

ACTION: Believe and affirm the goodness of God in all circumstances.

PRAYER: Father Lord, we hold onto Your unchanging word of your goodness, trusting that even though “many are the afflictions of the righteous, You, the Lord, delivers us out of them all.” (Psalm 34:19)

God is faithful!

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” (Deuteronomy 7:9)

God is always faithful and true. He does not change, even when we fail Him. In fact, He never fails to fulfil His promise and never forgets. His faithfulness stems from His unconditional love, so we can safely trust that He is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do. He makes all things to work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

ACTION: Be a faithful of God’s grace! Keep God’s commandments!

PRAYER: Father, we pray that we will not miss the release of the blessings of Your covenant to our generations because of our unbelief, carelessness, stubbornness or disobedience. Please help us to be faithful!
