Let’s do a little to AbilityX 2025

At AbilityX 2025, our panel sessions brought together diverse voices to unpack the realities, opportunities and challenges surrounding disability inclusion.

They challenged us to ask:

What would it take to move from talking about inclusion to actually building systems that work for everyone?

The room had different perspectives.
Different experiences.
Different sectors.

But one shared belief:

Inclusion requires action.

As we look ahead to AbilityX 2026, we’re carrying those conversations forward, with an even bigger ambition.

FROM MARGINS TO MARKETS.

Having a bank account doesn't automatically mean you're financially included.

What happens when the banking system isn't accessible?

Our new report, “Locked Out of the Bank: Are Nigeria’s Banks Working for Persons with Disabilities?”, examines the barriers persons with disabilities face when accessing financial services in Nigeria.

The findings provide evidence that can help financial institutions, policymakers and other stakeholders build a more accessible and inclusive financial system.

Click the link https://projectenable.africa/documents-reports/ to download the report.

Read it. Share it. Let’s make financial inclusion truly inclusive.

ABILITYX 2026 IS HERE! AGAIN!

And this year, we’re moving from the margins to the markets.

For too long, persons with disabilities have been positioned at the edges of economic conversations; as beneficiaries, rather than contributors, innovators, professionals, entrepreneurs, consumers, and market leaders.

But what happens when we shift the conversation?

What happens when inclusion is no longer just about access, but about participation, opportunity, ownership, and economic power?

That is the conversation we’re bringing to AbilityX 2026.

FROM MARGINS TO MARKETS.

A theme about moving beyond visibility to meaningful economic participation.

From being overlooked to being recognised.
From exclusion to opportunity.
From the margins to the marketplace.

This is more than a theme. It’s a shift in perspective.

Beyond Access: Why Financial Inclusion Must Work for Persons with Disabilities.

A person may have a bank account and still face barriers every time they need to use it.

Imagine arriving at a bank branch that has no accessible entrance. Or trying to use a banking application that cannot be navigated with a screen reader. Or needing assistance because customer service staff have never been trained to communicate effectively with persons with disabilities.

Are Nigerian banks working for persons with disabilities?

Find out in our upcoming financial inclusion report, Locked out of the bank, launching this August.

10/08/2026

Can we really call it financial inclusion if millions of persons with disabilities still face barriers to accessing financial services?”

“Earlier this year, Project Enable Africa set out to answer an important question: How inclusive is Nigeria’s financial system for persons with disabilities?

We spoke with people, gathered evidence, and analysed the realities behind the numbers.

What we found goes beyond statistics. It reveals the barriers, the gaps, and the opportunities to build a financial system that truly works for everyone.

This August, we’re launching our Financial Inclusion Report, an open-source resource for policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, civil society organisations, and everyone committed to advancing disability inclusion.

If you care about creating a more inclusive Nigeria, this is a report you won’t want to miss.”
