The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Suleja Branch, joins the world in commemorating the recently celebrated International Day of the Girl Child, marked on October 11 each year. This year’s theme: *“The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crises”* underscores the vital role girls play as agents of change even amidst crises. FIDA Suleja Branch reaffirms its commitment to promoting and protecting the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of every girl child. We believe that when girls are educated, protected, and empowered, they become powerful drivers of positive transformation in their families, communities, and the nation. FIDA Suleja calls on all stakeholders—government, parents, schools, and civil society—to continue supporting initiatives that eliminate gender-based violence, child marriage, and all barriers to girls’ development. Together, let us build a future where every girl can thrive, lead, and make a difference.

As part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence campaign, running from November 25th to December 10th, 2024 FIDA Suleja branch in collaboration with NBA, Suleja, MOT Suleja and Heartland Alliance Foundation are organizing a sensitization program to raise awareness about the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

As we mark the first anniversary of the inauguration of FIDA Suleja, we reflect on a year of dedication, impact, and unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and the empowerment of women and children in our community.

Since our inception, FIDA Suleja has championed the rights of the vulnerable, providing legal support, advocacy, and sensitization across various communities in Suleja. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that the voices of those who have been silenced by oppression are heard and that justice is served for all, regardless of their status or circumstances.

Our journey has been marked by significant milestones, including successful collaborations with law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders in the fight against domestic violence, child abuse, r**e, and gender-based discrimination.
