What You Don’t See

Not everyone you see smiling and looking good is actually okay.

Everyone is carrying a burden they’ve chosen not to talk about, or not to show.

So respect people. Be kind to everyone. We all have our share to bear.

Peace. You’re welcome ✌🏼

The In-Between: A Season of Preparation

There’s a point in every human life where you have to leave where you are, but you haven’t yet stepped into the next phase.

It feels like a pause. Like stagnation. Like nothing is moving.

I remember it clearly after university graduation, before I secured an internship placement. My God, it felt like my life had come to a complete standstill. Nothing seemed to be working. It felt like everything was working against me.

It’s a terrible place to be. The waiting is heavy, the uncertainty is loud, and it’s easy to believe you’re stuck.

But here’s the truth: the real deal is what you do during that period. What you do in the waiting will determine how the next phase you’re about to enter will look.

I’ve come to see that period differently now. It’s not a dead end. It’s a preparation period. It’s an internal season to get ready so you can make the most of what’s coming next.

So if you’re in that place right now - maybe you’ve just graduated and you’re waiting for internship or NYSC, or you’ve finished service and you’re waiting for employment - hear me:

Don’t tell yourself your life is stagnant. Don’t start to feel bad. Instead, use that time.

1. Write it down - How do you want the next phase to look?
2. Prepare actively - Learn a skill, take a course, volunteer, read, build something, apply. Stay productive while you wait.

The in-between isn’t empty. It’s the workshop where your next chapter is built.

Peace. You’re welcome ✌🏼

CHALLENGES ARE OPPORTUNITIES IN DISGUISE

A few weeks ago, I received an invitation that caught me off guard. My church (WATCHMAN) campus fellowship at FUDMA asked me to be the Master of Ceremony for their graduating students’ send-forth.

When I first read the message, I had mixed feelings. I was honored they thought of me, and excited by the opportunity. But I was also nervous. I had never done MC duty before, and I wasn’t sure I could pull it off.

Then came the part that really raised my anxiety: they told me someone I deeply respect and, in a good way, even fear would be in attendance. My God. Suddenly the stakes felt higher.

Still, I made a decision. I would try something new and step outside my comfort zone.

So I started preparing. I researched how to keep an event lively, how to engage a crowd, and how to carry everyone along from start to finish. I practiced, wrote notes, and planned transitions.

On the day of the event, I arrived at the venue early. I double-checked everything I needed, took a deep breath, and we began.

I was anxious at first, but as the program went on, I found my rhythm. I conquered my fear and embraced a brand-new experience.

The feedback from the organizers and friends afterward was overwhelmingly encouraging. I walked away grateful that I accepted the challenge, because I grew through it.

Lessons I Learned

1. Say “yes” before you feel ready
Growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone. If I had waited until I felt 100% qualified, I would have missed the chance entirely.

2. Preparation turns anxiety into confidence
My fear didn’t disappear on its own. Research, practice, and showing up early gave me control over what I could manage, and that carried me through what I couldn’t.
