THE DANGERS OF CARNALITY
Mark 9vs 38 -42
Top of the morning to you, beloved. It’s another blessed week, and the last week in the month of September. Glory be to the name of the Lord!
The Bible presents different categories of people, including those who are spiritually minded and those who are carnally minded.
Today, we will focus on the dangers of carnality.
MEMORY VERSE: Mark 9:39
Carnality can make us judge spiritual matters from a purely physical perspective.
In Mark 9, John told Jesus that they saw someone casting out demons in His name, and they tried to stop him because he was not part of their group. But Jesus told them not to forbid him because anyone who works in His name can not easily turn around and speak against Him.
John was looking at the situation from a limited human perspective. He failed to understand that the work of God extends beyond the people he personally knew.
John 1:12 tells us that as many as received Christ were given power to become the sons of God. Every believer, therefore, has a place and a responsibility in God's kingdom.
Everyone has a mission, but as believers, we have a divine assignment from the One who created us and called us for His purpose.
Therefore, never close the door against another believer simply because they do not belong to your denomination, group, or circle. Rather, recognise the household of faith and encourage one another to fulfil God's mandate.
Remember: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” — Matthew 7:16
One danger of carnality is that it can cause us to reject, doubt, or hinder those whom God has called, thereby slowing down the work of the Kingdom.
Let us, therefore, be careful not to place our personal judgment above God's judgment. Seek God's wisdom and allow Him to judge His servants and His work.
PRAYER
Eternal Father, grant us wisdom and spiritual discernment to know You, serve You, and relate rightly with everyone You have called into Your Kingdom. Deliver us from carnality and help us fulfil our divine assignment in Jesus' Name. Amen.
