AN OPEN APPEAL FOR URGENT IMPROVEMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES IN SAKI
The Nurudeen Adewale Youth Empowerment Initiative (NAYEI) wishes to express deep concern over the persistent and worsening state of telecommunication services in Saki and its surrounding communities.
For many years, residents of Saki have endured poor network coverage, unstable internet connectivity, frequent call disruptions, and extremely slow data services across major telecommunications providers, including MTN, Airtel, and Glo. Unfortunately, what was once considered an occasional inconvenience has now become a daily challenge affecting thousands of people across the community.
Students are among the most affected. In an era where education increasingly relies on digital resources, online research, virtual learning platforms, and internet-based communication, many students in Saki struggle to access the opportunities available to their counterparts in other cities. The inability to maintain stable internet connections places our students at a disadvantage and limits their academic potential.
The impact extends beyond education. Business owners, entrepreneurs, artisans, and professionals who depend on telecommunications services for transactions, customer engagement, marketing, and digital operations face significant setbacks due to poor network performance. Many economic opportunities are lost because reliable connectivity, which is a basic requirement for modern commerce, remains unavailable or inconsistent.
Furthermore, effective communication is essential for security, emergency response, healthcare access, and social interaction. The inability of residents to consistently make calls, send messages, or access internet services when needed creates unnecessary challenges and risks that should not exist in a developing community.
It is particularly concerning that Saki, a prominent and rapidly growing city with immense economic and human potential, continues to face these challenges despite the significant advancements in telecommunications technology across Nigeria. Our community deserves the same level of service enjoyed in many other urban and semi-urban areas of the country.
We therefore call on all relevant stakeholders, including telecommunication service providers, regulatory authorities, government agencies, elected representatives, and community leaders, to urgently investigate and address the network challenges affecting Saki. We strongly advocate for investments in telecommunications infrastructure, network upgrades, improved coverage, and sustainable solutions that will guarantee reliable communication services for all residents.
The development of any society in the 21st century is closely tied to access to quality communication and internet services. Saki cannot be left behind.
Reliable telecommunications services are not a luxury; they are a necessity for education, economic growth, innovation, security, and community development.
The people of Saki deserve better, and the time for action is now.
