APPRECIATION

Dear Esteemed Parents/Guardians/School Reps/Heads

We sincerely appreciate all of you, particularly our dedicated pupils and students, and everyone who contributed to the success of the 13th Edition of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Rivers State Chapter Olympiad (RiversMAN).

Today’s first round was truly remarkable, with impressive participation across the Lower Primary, Upper Primary, Junior Secondary, and Senior Secondary categories. Your presence, cooperation, and commitment made the event a huge success.

We especially thank our parents for their unwavering support, encouragement, and the effort put into preparing the children. Your partnership continues to make a meaningful difference.

To all our participants, well done for your courage and determination. We wish you the very best as we await the results. Please remain expectant, as the results of the first round will be released within the next one to two weeks on our official WhatsApp and Facebook platforms.

Kindly note that the Second Round for candidates who meet the cut-off mark will hold on 30th May 2026.

Please be reminded that the Lower Primary category is a one-off examination; there will be no second round for this category. The results from this first round will be used to determine the top ten candidates who will be awarded.

b. Second Round: Saturday, 30th May, 2026 (for qualified candidates only)

2. Venue:
a. Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt - Niger Delta Science School (NDSS)

3. Time:
a. Accreditation: 8:30 a.m.
b. Exam starts: 10:00 a.m. prompt

4. Categories:
a. Lower Primary: Primary 2–3
b. Upper Primary: Primary 4–6
c. Junior Secondary: JSS 1–3
d. Senior Secondary: SSS 1–3

5. Lower Primary Note:
a. One-off exam on 2nd May, 2026 only
b. No second round
c. Top 10 candidates will be awarded

6. Materials:
a. Writing materials required
b. No phones or electronic devices
c. Calculators not allowed
d. Senior Secondary only: Four-figure table permitted

7. Conduct:

8. After Exam:
a. Submit all scripts
b. Cut-off mark and qualified candidates for 2nd round will be announced

a. Registration has been extended to Friday, 1st May, 2026 for interested candidates

10. General:

Update on Membership Dues, Conference Participation & Publication Opportunities

The following dues have been approved for RiversMAN members:

1. Annual Dues – Limited Time Discount

There is a 20% discount on annual dues. Members are to pay ₦8,000 instead of the usual ₦10,000. This promo runs until 31st May 2026 after which the dues revert to ₦10,000. We encourage you to take advantage of this offer.

2. MAN Constitution

Each member is to pay compulsory ₦1,000 for a copy of MAN's constitution.

3. New Membership Registration
New members are warmly welcome.
Registration fee is ₦13,000 covering: Annual dues, MAN constitution and Registration form.

NOTE : Payment Summary
(a) Old members ₦9,000 (b) New members ₦13,000

4. National Annual Conference – Oshogbo 2026

Registration is now open for the upcoming national conference in Osun State.

Early Registration: ₦30,000 (Only for members who have cleared their state dues).

Late/Proxy Registration: ₦40,000

Further information on logistics for those attending physically will be communicated in due course.

5. Call for Papers – MAN Journal Publication*

Scholars who wish to present and publish their papers in the MAN Journals are encouraged to submit their manuscripts to the National body before the conference. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the body of mathematical knowledge and gain professional visibility. Submission of articles for presentation ends on or before 17th August, 2026. Kindly check the flyer for further details.

13th RiversMAN Mathematics OLYMPIAD/QUIZ- 2026

_Lower Primary: Areas of Concentration_

1.Number and Numeration
Place value, expanded and standard form, ordering and comparing numbers, even and odd numbers, and number patterns. Include Roman numerals.

2.Basic Operations
Addition and subtraction (including regrouping), mental arithmetic, and solving mixed-operation problems.

3.Multiplication and Division
Multiplication tables, multiplication as repeated addition, simple division as sharing or grouping, and word problems involving equal groups.

4.Fractions
Fractions of shapes and numbers, comparing simple fractions, and basic equivalent fractions.

5.Simple Equations
Solving basic missing number problems

6.Measurement
Length, weight, capacity, time (reading clocks), money calculations, and solving practical word problems involving measurement.

7.Geometry
Properties of 2D and 3D shapes, symmetry, perimeter and area of simple figures.

8.Data Handling
Reading and interpreting pictographs and bar charts, and answering questions based on data.

9. Factors and Multiples
Factors, multiples, LCM and HCF of numbers less than 100

10. Squares and Cubes
Operations on numbers less than 20.

11.Logical and Critical Thinking
Number puzzles, pattern completion, reasoning questions, and problem-solving tasks that test thinking skills.

12.Word Problems and Real-Life Applications
Multi-step problems that combine different mathematical concepts in practical situations.

The National President of MAN Prof Emmanuel Oghre, FMAN has approved the release of 2026 MMAN, LMAN FMAN forms. Qualified and interested members are to download the forms, fill the relevant sessions, get the approval from their various state chairmen and submit same to the office of the National Secretary with proof of payment and other supporting documents.
Closing date for MMAN and LMAN is August 20,2026
While FMAN closes March 20,2026.
Note: All payments should be made to the association account.
