The Nigerian government has not been fair to the Igbo people. If we fail to speak up now, our children will blame us in the future.

How can the Federal Government approve the construction of a new seaport in Ogun State when there is already a seaport in Lagos? Why are they neglecting the South-East, whose people are widely known for their entrepreneurial spirit and business activities, and choosing to build another seaport in Ogun State instead?

What exactly is the justification for this decision when the South-East also deserves such infrastructure to support its thriving commercial activities?

PETER OBI: “I AM THE MOST QUALIFIED TO LEAD NIGERIA”

HE. Peter Obi has reportedly declared himself the most qualified among the three major presidential contenders for Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

Speaking to Nigerians in Birmingham, United Kingdom, yesterday, Obi stated that he had challenged the other candidates to a presidential debate but claimed that none had been bold enough to accept his invitation.

His statement has reignited discussions about leadership, competence, accountability, and the readiness of presidential aspirants to defend their ideas and plans for Nigeria before the electorate.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, Nigerians will be looking for candidates who can clearly articulate their policies, demonstrate leadership capacity, and present practical solutions to the country's economic and security challenges.

Ultimately, the Nigerian people will decide who is best suited to lead the nation.

IKWERRE IDENTITY: NO ONE SHOULD BE FORCED TO DENY THEIR IGBO HERITAGE — PROF. OBASI IGWE

Nobody is forcing Ikwerre people who identify with Benin ancestry rather than Igbo identity to call themselves Igbo. However, the same freedom must be extended to those Ikwerre people who proudly identify as Igbo. No one should be pressured to deny or abandon an identity they genuinely embrace.

Those who believe they have Benin ancestry should be free to express their position, just as those who identify as Igbo should be free to celebrate their heritage without intimidation or condemnation.

The fundamental issue is that no individual or group should claim the authority to define the identity of all Ikwerre people. Those who identify with Benin should speak for themselves rather than impose their views on the entire Ikwerre population.

Millions of Ikwerre people proudly embrace their Igbo identity, and their voices deserve the same respect and recognition as those who hold a different view.

Ultimately, ethnic identity should be a matter of personal and community conviction, not something imposed by others. Mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and freedom of identity should guide the conversation.

“THERE IS NOTHING LIKE ORIGINAL IGBO OR FAKE IGBO. ALL IGBOS ARE EQUAL.” — PROF. OBASI IGWE

No Igbo community is superior to another. Every community deserves equal respect, recognition and dignity.

Prof. Obasi Igwe emphasises that indigenous Igbo communities are spread across 13 states in Nigeria, with the Ikweres forming an important part of the broader Igbo identity.

While no one should be forced to adopt an identity, those Ikweres who identify as Igbo and embrace their ancestral heritage should be free to do so without pressure or intimidation.

Igbo unity must be built on history, mutual respect and the freedom to embrace one's identity.
