FG’S BUDGET & ECONOMIC PLANNING MINISTRY ACCREDITS SSI ... A New Chapter of Institutional Growth, Accountability and National Service

I am deeply grateful to God and humbled by the latest institutional milestone achieved by Solution Social Initiative - SSI.

The Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning has formally approved SSI for a Temporary Operational Permit (TOP) following our application, interview and institutional assessment by the Ministry. The approval, effective from 8 April 2026, represents an important step in the journey of building SSI into a stronger, more accountable and nationally impactful development organisation.

For us, this is not merely about receiving a document. It is about institutional responsibility, public trust and the opportunity to serve within a recognised national framework.

The Ministry has placed upon SSI important obligations, including the submission of annual work plans and progress reports and sustained compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. We embrace these responsibilities wholeheartedly because we believe that sustainable impact must be built on accountability, transparency, discipline and measurable results.

I sincerely appreciate the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for the confidence reposed in Solution Social Initiative and for providing this institutional pathway. I also appreciate our team, partners, volunteers, supporters and every stakeholder who has contributed to the growth of SSI.

This milestone comes on the heels of our growing institutional engagements nationally, across Africa and internationally, including our recognition by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs as a National Women-Focused NGO, our engagement with AU ECOSOCC, affiliation with WFDP, membership of the International Peace Bureau, our EuropeAid institutional identification, and our international organisational profiles with NATO and SAM.gov, among others.

These recognitions do not represent the destination. They increase our responsibility.

At SSI, our commitment remains clear: to contribute meaningfully to humanitarian response, child protection, women and girls’ empowerment, education, youth development, community development and other areas where vulnerable people require support and sustainable solutions.

As we enter this new phase, we shall continue to build partnerships, strengthen our systems, uphold regulatory compliance and ensure that the resources entrusted to us translate into measurable impact in the lives of people and communities.

I dedicate this milestone to the SSI family and to every individual and institution that believes in our mission.

The journey continues. The responsibility is greater. The impact must be deeper.

FG’S BUDGET & ECONOMIC PLANNING MINISTRY ACCREDITS SSI

Solution Social Initiative - SSI, a Nigerian faith-based non-governmental organisation, has secured Federal Government recognition through the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning following a formal application, interview and institutional assessment by the Ministry.

The development marks a significant institutional milestone for SSI, placing the organisation within the Federal Government’s established framework for the regulation, monitoring and coordination of local non-governmental organisations operating in Nigeria.

As part of the approval, the Ministry issued SSI a Temporary Operational Permit (TOP) for an initial two-year probationary period, effective April 8, 2026, in accordance with the Ministry's standard.

The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated April 22, 2026, signed by Sampson Ebimaro, Ph.D., Director and Head of the International Cooperation Department, for the Honourable Minister.

Under the terms of the approval, SSI is required to submit annual work plans and progress reports on programmes and projects implemented during the probationary period. The Ministry stated that the organisation’s performance would form part of the eligibility criteria for the subsequent processing and signing of a substantive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Government and SSI.

The Ministry also directed the organisation to maintain full regulatory compliance, including keeping its Corporate Affairs Commission status active through timely filing of annual returns.

Confirming the development, Executive Director of SSI, Prophet Efe Cyril Edah, described the Federal Government’s recognition as a major step in the organisation’s institutional development.

He said the approval would strengthen SSI’s capacity to deepen engagement with government institutions, development partners and vulnerable communities while operating within established national regulatory and accountability frameworks.

“This is a significant step in the institutional growth of SSI. We are grateful for the confidence placed in our organisation and remain committed to accountability, regulatory compliance and measurable impact in the communities we serve,” Edah said.

The latest development adds to SSI’s growing portfolio of national, continental and international institutional engagements. The
Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Abuja has recognised the organisation as a National Women-Focused NGO and is an affiliate member of the World Fund for Development and Planning - WFDP, an intergovernmental organisation with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

SSI has also secured a EuropeAid Identification (EuropeAid ID) and Participating Identity Code (PIC) under the European Commission’s International Partnerships framework and is listed as a national/local member of the IPB - International Peace Bureau.

At the continental level, SSI has secured accreditation status with the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU ECOSOCC), while its international institutional footprint includes organisational registration and/or profiles with NATO and the U.S. Federal Government’s System for Award Management (SAM.gov).

The organisation’s programmes span humanitarian response, women and girls’ empowerment, child protection, education, youth development and community development, including its Safe Schools, Safe Future initiative.

The Federal Government’s recognition comes as SSI enters a new phase of institutional accountability, structured reporting and regulatory compliance, with the organisation expected to demonstrate measurable development impact throughout the two-year probationary period.

Children move between schools, homes, markets, religious institutions, communities, and other social environments. Protection must therefore move with them.

NCFRMI, SSI Advance Partnership on Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene Initiative for IDP Camps

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has advanced plans to implement a sustainable menstrual hygiene programme for internally displaced persons (IDPs) following a high-level working visit to the production facility of Rosies Textile Mills Ltd/Namjid.Com Ltd in Aba, Abia State.

The technical assessment visit, held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was part of the ongoing collaboration among NCFRMI, Solution Social Initiative - SSI, and Real Relief Denmark toward the implementation of the Safepad Empowerment & Menstrual Hygiene Support Project for IDP Camps in Nigeria.

The Honourable Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI was represented by the Head of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Department, Mrs. Uju Igboko, while the SSI delegation was led by its Executive Director, Prophet Efe Cyril Edah. The delegation was received by the Managing Director of Rosies Textile Mills Ltd/Namjid.Com Ltd, Mr. Nnamdi Iro Oji, alongside members of the company's technical and production management team.

During the visit, the delegation inspected the production processes for Safepad reusable menstrual hygiene products and assessed the facility's manufacturing capacity, quality assurance systems, and operational readiness for large-scale humanitarian production.

Discussions focused on the proposed establishment of a Safepad micro-production unit within a selected IDP camp, the delivery of menstrual hygiene management education, distribution of reusable menstrual hygiene kits, and the vocational training of displaced women to participate in local production as a sustainable livelihood initiative.

The delegation also noted that Rosies Textile Mills Ltd/Namjid.Com Ltd manufactures mosquito nets for nationwide distribution, prompting discussions on the potential inclusion of long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets in future humanitarian interventions for IDP camps.

Real Relief Denmark reaffirmed that Safepad technology remains its intellectual property, while its Nigerian production partner expressed readiness to manufacture and supply the reusable products to NCFRMI under a coordinated humanitarian pricing arrangement. The company also indicated its willingness to explore extending its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support internally displaced persons in Nigeria.

The proposed project is expected to improve menstrual hygiene management, enhance the dignity and health of displaced women and girls, reduce long-term procurement costs through reusable sanitary products, and create sustainable employment opportunities by establishing localized production within IDP settlements.

The parties agreed to finalize institutional arrangements, including a Memorandum of Understanding, identify a pilot IDP camp, and develop a comprehensive implementation framework, with monitoring and evaluation mechanisms designed to support future expansion of the initiative across Nigeria's IDP camps.

The working visit marks another significant step in strengthening collaboration between NCFRMI, SSI, and Real Relief's Nigerian production partner, reflecting a shared commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable, and dignity-centered humanitarian interventions for vulnerable populations.

Safeguarding Children Must Not End at Rescue

The successful rescue of abducted schoolchildren is a victory worth celebrating, but child safeguarding does not end when captivity ends. Around the world, security and investigative considerations often justify withholding the identities or images of suspected perpetrators. Yet, in many cases, the faces of child survivors are widely circulated across television, newspapers, and social media with little regard for their privacy, dignity, long-term well-being, or future safety. This contradiction demands urgent reflection.

Children who survive violence are victims, not headlines. Every child has the right to privacy, protection from re-traumatization, and the opportunity to heal away from public exposure.

Solution Social Initiative - SSI therefore calls on safeguarding advocates, child protection professionals, media organizations, governments, the National Human Rights Commission, and all stakeholders to strengthen compliance with safeguarding fundamentals by placing the best interests of the child above public curiosity.

Let us build a culture where protecting a child's identity is regarded as essential as rescuing that child. Safeguarding is not complete until every child's dignity, privacy, and future are equally protected.
