Empowering the Next Generation of Environmental Stewards
The **African Centre for Environmental Protection (ACEP)** proudly commemorated **World Environment Day 2026** by organizing an environmental awareness programme at **Al-Noor Academy, Abuja**, in line with this year's theme, **"Urbanization and Climate Change."**
The outreach engaged **60 students and 7 teachers**, providing an interactive platform to deepen their understanding of climate change, sustainable urban development, biodiversity conservation, and nature-based solutions. Students were also introduced to the *ACEP Green Three-Step Plan*, participated in an engaging environmental quiz, and learned about the *ACEP Plant A Million Trees 2030 Campaign*, which supports *Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 and 13*.
The programme was led by *Engr. Sandra Adaobi Esimaje*, who represented ACEP and delivered insightful sessions that inspired students to become active environmental champions. She was supported by a dedicated team comprising *Mr. Abdulazeez Jamiu Adewale, Mr. Abdurrham Manga, Mr. Yunus Abdulwakeel Olawale, Mr. Gazali Ridwanullah, Mr. Saheed Babaranti, Mr. Yahaya Tijani, and Mrs. Yaqub Hadeezah*, whose collective commitment and teamwork were instrumental in the successful delivery of the programme.
ACEP extends its sincere appreciation to the leadership of *Al-Noor Academy*, particularly *Principal Mallam Yahaya Suleiman Salihu*, *Dr. Sadiq Rasheedat*, Vice Principal (Nursery & Primary Section), and *Mrs. Aminu Hafsah*, Vice Principal (Secondary Section), for their warm hospitality, partnership, and unwavering commitment to environmental education.
Together, ACEP and its partners are empowering young people with the knowledge and skills needed to become responsible environmental stewards and champions of climate action. Every awareness programme, every tree planted, and every young mind inspired brings us one step closer to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Nigeria.
