Love Notes to Warriors (60).
Boy: what did the doctor say is wrong with you?
Girl: I have sickle cell anemia and I'm having serious pains in my joints and my chest.
Boy: I didn't know you have sickle cell anemia. Sorry. I used to know someone in my secondary who had it. He's dead now.
Girl: silently stares at the boy and wonders when death will come calling.

Warriors, it is difficult to process the demise of a fellowship warrior without giving in to mild/deep depression. Thoughts of hopelessness usually assail us and we wonder if the effort to stay alive is worth it.

I tell you today, as a 60 year old living with this condition and as someone who has harboured such thoughts in the past, it is the evil one's ploy to destroy your inner peace. Such thoughts easily lead to depression and makes us prone to crisis. Consider this, news of tragic road accidents has not stopped people from buying cars or taking public transport. Giving up hope and allowing sickle cell anemia to dictate the story of your life and when that story will end will send you to the grave faster than this condition circumstances of our birth have inflicted on us.

Death is the inevitable end for everybody, not just warriors. But again, Jesus promised us not to allow anything that will overcome us to befall us. So the fact that we have sickle cell anemia does not mean our end must come from it. Be of good cheer always and trust that our God Who has brought us this far is faithful enough to see us through every trial until His appointed time to call us home.

Non- warriors, be a bit more conscious and sensitive with your words, expressions and actions towards people who are vulnerable. Consciously encourage them or be silent.

Activating Attitude of Gratitude.
The photos look bad, right? The headache and body pains were real too. But I could not get my mind to dwell on anything other than what God saved my daughter and I from on Saturday morning.

"What if" clouded my mind immediately I regained consciousness, and the more I thought of all that could have happened the more I praise God for His banner of love over my family. No loss of limb, no loss of organ, no loss of life. The only loss was the car which is replaceable.

Please join me in thanking God in very special ways for showing me and my family one more time that His mercy endureth forever. I AM INDEED GOD'S PET.

Do you appreciate God's "NO" as much as you appreciate His "YES"?
Remember St. Paul said God told him 'no' 3 times when he prayed for the thorn in his flesh to be taken away. Do you also remember the reason God gave him for saying no, 'My grace is sufficient for you'.

We should learn to trust God even when our prayers appear unanswered. Knowing that God is infinite GOODNESS, there can only be 3 reasons for His 'No':
- His grace is sufficient to see us through.
- He is making us ready for the blessings He has in store for us.
- He is giving us a better package than what we petitioned Him for.

In all things, give thanks and trust God.

Whatever you are going through today will end in praise if you put your trust in God. It happened to St. Padre Pio and it will happen to you too.
Shun malice, anger and do not think evil towards anyone especially your persecutors. Place your petitions before God in prayer and end the prayer with these words, "may Thine will be done O Lord, not mine".

12 YEARS WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO OFFER MASS AND HE WAS INNOCENT.
In 1931, a letter from the Vatican arrived at San Giovanni Rotondo:
"Father Pio cannot give mass in public. He cannot confess. He cannot receive people. He cannot write letters."
He was punished as if he were a criminal.
Why? Because there were people in Rome who said his wounds were fake, that he smelled of roses because he wore perfume, that he did tricks.
For 12 years, Italy's most famous saint had to say Mass at 4 in the morning, alone, in a locked chapel, without anyone seeing him. The few who entered said he was crying while during Mass.
And he never complained. He never spoke ill of those who accused him. He just said: "May God's will be done."
12 years later, the same Vatican that punished him had to declare him innocent. And today he is one of the most beloved saints in the world.

If today you feel that you are being judged... that you are being punished without having done anything... that doors are closed to you without reason...

Think of him. Remember him. 12 years alone on a bench. And in the end, he won.
