A mother and her children are dressed up, ready to enjoy a nice evening.
And right in front of them is another child—dirty, exhausted, sitting on the ground shining the shoes of children around his age.
Stop scrolling for a second. Look at the picture.
What exactly are we teaching our children when this becomes normal?
That one child deserves comfort while another child deserves survival?
That because you were born into poverty, you should serve someone who was born into privilege?
That some children get to dream about what they want to become, while others are forced to worry about what they will eat?
THIS SHOULD NOT BE NORMAL.
And this isn't about attacking the family in the picture. We don't know their story.
It's about the society that allows a child to be in this position in the first place.
Children should be in school.
Children should be playing.
Children should be protected.
Children should be dreaming about their future.
Not shining shoes because life gave them a harder starting point.
And here's the question I really want everyone to answer:
