On Thursday the 19th of September, 5 clubs of Zone 33, District 9141 gathered for a joint fellowship. In partnership with the Rotary Action Group For Peace Rotary Action Group for Peace - Nigeria Chapter Rotary Action Group For Peace and conflict, we had a guest speaker who spoke on the need to be an advocacy for peace in our various communities, families and neighbourhood.
The 5 clubs include:- Rotary Club Of Port Harcourt Lighthouse. District 9141 Rotary Club of Port Harcourt New City Rotary club of Port Harcourt Rumumasi Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Lighthouse club of Rumuogba Golden club of Port Harcourt Phoenix. The atmosphere was serene, and buzzed with laughter, songs connections and friendship.
Thanks to the AG of Zone 33 Basil Mbanefo for making sure this joint fellowship was a success. And thanks to all members of the various clubs for coming out in their numbers.
We encourage more joint fellowships to foster peace and unity amongst clubs and possible more partnerships in projects that bring about peace and progress in the world .

Na Who Rotary don help? The children of State Primary School Oginigba will tell the story better. Yesterday was so emotional, as the Rotary Club Of Port Harcourt Lighthouse. District 9141 took their Back 2 School initiative, "See the future" to State Primary School Oginigba.
In Partnership with "Main vision eye clinic ", t Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Lighthouse , conducted- • Free Eye Tests
• Free Exercise books
• Free lenses for severe cases
And there were several severe cases seen. There was two siblings from the same parents whose eyes had so degenerated that it impaired their movement and speech. The Eye doctor said what she needed for those cases was to come pick them and their parents and conduct some specific tests to be able to proceed with the right lenses for them.
The Rotary club of Port Harcourt Lighthouse proceeded to the secondary school section to teach the students some of the 21st Century Career Paths and how career have evolved in Nigeria. The students were excited and intelligent because some of them already had skills which they were already in practice.
Thanks to everyone who donated towards this cause as we seek more donations to make sure that every child that had a severe eye cases will get a free lens to help .

Learning is a continuous process. Therefore we continue to acquire knowledge to improve our insight in different areas of life . Yesterday, the members of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Lighthouse were present at the Public Image Seminar conducted by District 9141 at Warri.
Rotary Club Of Port Harcourt Lighthouse. District 9141 members learnt the importance of branding, and using the right logo that is compliance with Rotary to publicise our stories.
We learnt also the right way to tell you stories to appeal to the public emotions and get them involved in your page and hence seeking to understand Rotary International and be a part of it.
It was generally a beautiful Seminar and lots to eat and drink. And we met new faces, engaged with new friends.
Rotary is indeed good, it brings people from all works of life together, forming bonds , friendships and self development.

**CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING AND SENSITISATION PROJECT "!!!*

Under one of the 7 major areas of Rotary focus termed;- " Disease Prevention and Treatment "

It was indeed a magical/ mind blowing experience for the community women of Rumukwurushi at the St John's Catholic church Rumukwurushi, as an expert from "Edge Africa " , taught and screened them on "cervical cancer ".

There was also a sensitisation on the causes , prevention of cervical cancer.
Then after a cervical cancer screening was conducted on everyone who indicated an interest for a paltry sum.

The women were indeed happy and grateful for the knowledge received and for the test conducted.
