2026 / 2027 BOARD YEAR โ CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
We didn't just have a good year. We made history.
Three SPE Awards. One Shared Vision.
The Presidential Award for Outstanding Section (Global). The Regional Outstanding Section Award (Africa). The Outstanding Section Award (Nigeria).
But here is the truth behind the trophies: those awards were never won on a stage. They were won in the hours nobody clapped for.
They were won by the volunteer who stayed back to set up a hall. By the member who made one more call to secure a sponsor. By the team that turned "it's never been done in Africa" into Africa's first-ever Well Intervention Summit and Africa's first-ever Faculty Industry Immersion Programme.
25 technical lectures. 400+ graduate professionals trained. 5,000+ lives directly touched. 33.5% membership growth. Every single number on that scoreboard has a name behind it โ a volunteer who decided to show up.
That is who we are. And that is exactly why we are writing to you today.

As we step into the 2026/2027 service year under our incoming leadership and the guiding pillars of People. Progress. Purpose., we are opening our doors โ and we are calling you by name.
Not because we ran out of people. Because legacies are not inherited. They are re-earned, every single year, by hands that are willing.
This call is open to every member of Section 103 โ young professionals finding their voice, and seasoned professionals with wisdom to pour out. Whether you have one hour a month or one hundred, there is a seat here with your name on it.
We are recruiting volunteers for the following committees:
1. STEM Fair โ Ignite the spark. Take science, technology and energy into schools and communities, and light up the next generation of engineers.
2. WIS โ Well Intervention Summit โ Deliver Africa's landmark technical summit. Help us build on a first-of-its-kind legacy and keep our section at the frontier of well intervention excellence.
3. FIIP โ Faculty Industry Immersion Programme โ Bridge the classroom and the field. Connect our educators to real industry practice and shape how the next generation is taught.
4. D&I โ Diversity & Inclusion โ Build a section where every voice belongs and every talent has room to rise.
5. SPE Week โ Deliver our flagship week of technical brilliance, networking and celebration. Be at the heart of our biggest stage.
6. Petroleum Engineering Bootcamp โ Build practical petroleum engineering competence. Take participants beyond the classroom through hands-on learning, industry case studies and technical exposure that prepare the next generation of petroleum engineers for the field.
7. Young Professionals Productivity Bootcamp โ Equip the next generation of professionals to work smarter, lead better and deliver more. Build the productivity, professional and personal effectiveness skills that turn potential into measurable impact.
8. HSE Summit โ Put safety at the centre of the conversation. Bring professionals and industry leaders together to confront HSE challenges, share best practices and champion a stronger culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
9. Study groups โ Learn together. Grow together. Create spaces for continuous technical learning, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and engagement with industry experts across key areas of the energy industry.

The seasoned among us: your experience is a gift the next generation is waiting for. The young among us: your energy is the fuel that keeps this section unstoppable.
Together, we didn't just win three awards. We proved what a section united by purpose can do.
