RIVERS WOMEN HAIL FUBARA'S PEACE ADVOCACY
..Encourage women, youth to secure PVC

Rivers Women Unite for SIM have hailed and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara's peace advocacy as well as the unity and sustainable development of Rivers State. They called on all political leaders, stakeholders and political gladiators to continue supporting every genuine effort aimed at consolidating lasting peace across the state.

The women also applauded Gov. Fubara, for his purposeful leadership and unwavering commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy through the ex*****on and completion of impactful projects across the state. They noted that the administration's investments in roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure are improving connectivity, opening up communities, stimulating economic activities and enhancing the welfare of the people.

Speaking on Thursday during the August praise and thanksgiving held at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt, the Convener of the group, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton harped on the theme of the meeting: Peace Be Still!, stressing that peace remains the strongest foundation for development, economic growth and social harmony.

She commended the peace and reconciliation initiatives by Gov. Fubara and the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as well as the leadership of the Rainbow Coalition through sustained dialogue and reconciliation efforts.

She urged political actors to place the collective interest of Rivers State above personal ambitions, emphasizing that only a peaceful environment can attract investments, create jobs and accelerate infrastructure and human capital development.

Amaopuorubo Toby Fulton further encouraged the people to secure their permanent voters card to effectively participate in the 2027 elections.

Furthermore, Dr. Priye Oarhe, led the congregation on a powerful exultation/charge, and the women concluded through offering prayers for enduring peace in Rivers State, wisdom for political leaders at all levels and the well-being of women and youths in the State.

Gov Fubara Inaugurates Omoku Zonal Hospital, Urges Residents to Safeguard Facility

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has inaugurated the 105-bed Zonal Hospital in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, charging residents to protect the facility from vandalism and ensure it serves generations to come.

Speaking at the inauguration on Friday, Fubara described the hospital as a major investment in healthcare delivery and the wellbeing of people in the Orashi region, saying his administration remains committed to improving access to quality medical services across the state.

The governor said the Omoku Zonal Hospital is one of three zonal hospitals in Rivers West Senatorial District, alongside those in Ahoada and Degema, noting that while the Ahoada facility had been inaugurated, the Degema hospital was at the furnishing stage.

He said healthcare remains one of government's core responsibilities, stressing that healthy citizens are more productive and better positioned to contribute to the state's development.

Fubara explained that the hospital would not only serve residents of Omoku but also cater to people in Egbema, Ndoni and neighbouring communities, including parts of the Ahoada axis.

He urged traditional rulers, community leaders and youths to take ownership of the facility by protecting it against theft and vandalism.

According to him, those responsible for safeguarding the hospital would be held accountable if public assets were destroyed.

The governor noted that the hospital was strategically located in the state's oil and gas hub, making it critical to the healthcare needs of residents and workers in the area.

He also assured the people that his administration would consider additional requests presented by the community before the expiration of its tenure.

In his remarks, the Oba of Ogba Land, His Eminence, Dr. Nwachukwu Obuoha Obi III, commended Fubara for expanding healthcare infrastructure and completing key road projects in the area.

The traditional ruler said the recently completed 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku dual carriageway had transformed the area by improving transportation and enhancing security.

He described the road as a project long desired by the people, adding that its completion had restored confidence among communities in the area.

The monarch also praised the governor for establishing the Omoku Zonal Hospital, saying the facility would address growing healthcare needs in the oil-producing region, where hydrocarbon activities pose significant health risks.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Nwachukwu, said the 105-bed hospital was designed to serve residents of Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Emohua and parts of Ikwerre Local Government Area.

He added that the Fubara administration's sustained investment in the health sector had significantly improved healthcare delivery across Rivers State.

Massive Jubilation as -Bliss Wins NDC Rivers Campaign Song Challenge, Bags ₦1 Million Prize as Dumo Lulu-Briggs Pledges Creative Industry Revival

Singer So-Bliss has emerged as the winner of the NDC Rivers State Campaign Song Challenge, earning the grand prize of ₦1 million after impressing judges in a highly competitive contest featuring eleven finalists.

The event was graced by the Leader of the Party and sponsor of the initiative, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, alongside the Rivers State Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Success Jack, party candidates, and other members of the party leadership

At the end of the event, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs stated that he remained throughout every performance, not out of obligation, but because he wanted to witness firsthand the talent and resilience of Rivers State's creative community.

According to him, the contest highlighted the remarkable achievements of young creatives who have continued to build a thriving entertainment industry despite receiving little or no government support.

He expressed concern that the state's most recent budget made no provision for the entertainment and creative sector, even as young people continue to organize concerts, stage productions, workshops, seminars, and other creative events throughout the year.

He emphasized that a government that truly understands its people must recognize that the state's largest demographic is its youth and should invest in the industries they have built through creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Reflecting on his own history of investing in the entertainment industry, Opuda recalled establishing Rachel's, a London-style pub, in Port Harcourt during the 1990s before later transforming Illusions at Orazzi from an overlooked location into one of the city's most celebrated nightlife destinations that attracted visitors and celebrities from across the world.

He said those experiences taught him the importance of identifying promising ideas early and providing the support needed for them to flourish, an approach he intends to apply to Rivers State's creative economy if elected governor.

Chief Lulu-Briggs described the initiative as only a glimpse of the opportunities his administration intends to create for Rivers creatives through deliberate investment, partnerships, and policies that recognize the economic value of the entertainment industry.

Congratulating So-Bliss on her victory, he praised all eleven finalists for their outstanding performances and assured them that their talents would not go unnoticed.

"The song will now carry our campaign forward as the official NDC Rivers State campaign song," he said. "To every artist who stepped on that stage: I saw you, and I am with you."

Deeply impressed by the outstanding performances, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs doubled the winner’s prize from ₦1 million to ₦2 million. In an extraordinary show of appreciation, he also rewarded each of the 10 finalists with ₦1 million in recognition of their exceptional talent and dedication.

The event underscored the NDC's commitment to positioning the creative industry as a major driver of employment, youth empowerment, tourism, and economic development in Rivers State.
