🎬 A NEW CHAPTER FOR ARCHITECTURE IN NIGERIA!

Today, the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) marked a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Voice of Architecture Africa for the production of the movie, *The Architect.*

The NIA was represented at the signing by the President, Arc Sani I. Saulawa FNIA PNIA, the Honorary General Secretary (HGS) Arc Ninah Briggs MNIA, and the Chair of the Public Relations Committee *Arc Agathachristie Irabor MNIA

This landmark collaboration seeks to bring the story of architecture and the architectural profession to a wider audience through the power of film.. showcasing the profession, the people behind it, our values, challenges, aspirations, and the profound impact of architecture on our society.

The Architect is more than a movie. It is an opportunity to tell our story, shape the narrative, inspire the next generation, and deepen public appreciation of the architect’s role in shaping our built environment.

Today, we sign the MOU.
Tomorrow, we tell our story. 🎥🏛️

NIA DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES (DLS) 7.0

The Nigerian Institute of Architects is pleased to announce DLS 7.0, the latest edition of its Distinguished Lecture Series.

The lecture will explore the theme:
“PROFESSIONAL BODIES AND NATİONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT: Perspectives and Reflections of an Architect.

The Distinguished Lecturer is Arc. Mohammed Jimoh FAWORAJA, FNIA, PPNIA, PPARCON, PPABPN, who will share valuable perspectives drawn from his extensive experience and reflections on the profession, the Institute, and the broader role of professional bodies in national development.

📅 Date: 17th September 2026
📍 Venue: State Banquet Hall, Government House, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Members are encouraged to make plans to attend and participate in what promises to be an insightful and thought provoking lecture.

The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) joined the global architectural community in honouring the memory of Arc. Femi Majekodunmi FNIA, PPNIA, PPUIA, during the just concluded UIA Conference in Barcelona, Spain - delegates observed a solemn one-minute silence in tribute to his remarkable life, distinguished service, and enduring contributions to the architectural profession in Nigeria and across the world.

His legacy of leadership, excellence, and commitment to architecture will continue to inspire generations.

May his soul rest in perfect peace, amen 🙏

The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) mourns the passing of Chief Olufemi Majekodunmi, a distinguished architect, visionary leader, and one of the most influential figures in the history of the architectural profession in Nigeria, Africa, and the world.

As a former President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, former President of the African Union of Architects (AUA), and the first African President of the International Union of Architects (UIA), Chief Majekodunmi's remarkable leadership elevated the voice and stature of African architects on the global stage.

His life was marked by excellence, service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of architecture and the built environment. Through his pioneering achievements, mentorship, and dedication to professional development, he inspired generations of architects and left an enduring legacy that will continue to shape the profession for years to come.

On behalf of the Council, members, and the entire architectural community, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.

May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations.
