GFMAA History

GFMAA is a legally registered Non-governmental Organization aimed at tackling primary health care in poor and inaccessible rural communities specifically in Nigeria and extensively in sub-Saharan Africa. GFMAA first began as Goshen Medical Center; a small private primary health cottage clinic situated at Oyigbo; a small town 7km away from the Port Harcourt metropolis. The clinic was well equipped to cater for the catchment area of Oyigbo. Goshen Medical center had been involved in rural medical missions for over 10 years prior to the advent of GFMAA- (Goshen Free Medical Assistance Association). GFMAAs primary focus involves using free healthcare in these impoverished communities as a tool to enhance community development.

In Nigeria, we plan to set up satellite clinics with dispensary out posts in every area with an unreached population of at least 500,000 people. Our target is to set up at least 5 of these clinics as well as 3 dispensary outposts per clinic in the next five years. We also plan to set up HIV& AIDS counseling centers for the dispensing of generic drugs. In meeting our target, GFMAA has set several goals, objectives in short, medium and long term plans. Some of these objectives include; creating a value system, acquiring corporate infrastructure, forging local and global partnerships in line with our vision. GFMAA activities have largely bordered on affordable and or free medical consultancy and surgery, health and environmental seminars and setting up and supervision of satellite clinics as well as feeder dispensing units. We get involved in awareness campaigns in the rural areas with resource persons from teaching hospitals, specialists in private practice, as well as environmental health care officer. In general, GFMAA strives to record success of our dispensing outpost in the long-term with significant impact on the surrounding population. In the long-run, GFMAA has been successful in attempting at all, however, there are numerous possibilities within this vast field and as an organization we aspire to take advantage of, to bring about the desired transformation within the health sector.
