Today, June 12, we remember that democracy is more than a date on the calendar. It is the belief that every Nigerian, regardless of background, tribe, or status, deserves a voice, dignity, and the freedom to dream and build.

As Rotaractors, we celebrate democracy by choosing service over silence, unity over division, and action over apathy. Our Nigeria becomes stronger when we listen to each other, hold leaders accountable, and take responsibility for the communities we live in.

This Democracy Day, let us recommit to the values that hold a nation together: justice, freedom, equity, and respect for all. The future we want will not build itself. It will be built by us, by young people who refuse to be spectators in their own story.

Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria.
Together, we serve. Together, we build.

*New Month Message From The District Rotaract Representative June 2026—Rotary Fellowships Month*

Dear Friends,

The month of June is Rotary Fellowships Month. This month is aimed at recognizing the importance of international fellowship and goodwill among Rotarians and Rotaractors with similar recreational and vocational interests.

Rotary Fellowships provide us with opportunities to make lasting friendships outside our clubs, district and country, connecting us with others who share our love and passion for certain hobbies and vocations. This month, Rotary asks us to promote increased participation in fellowships, and improve understanding of the program, as it serves as an incentive to attract new members to Rotary and retain existing ones.

Last month, the RID 9141 Joint District Conference, tagged *Akugbe 2026* was held at Benin City, Edo State. It was well-attended by Rotaractors across our district, who showed up in beautiful, matching colours and attires. We participated in entertaining panel sessions and other activities, and received enlightening talks from Rotary International dignitaries within Nigeria and beyond. Several Rotaract clubs and Rotaractors were also recognized on that esteemed stage and given highly-merited awards.

The Investiture Ceremony of the 10th District Rotaract Representative, *Rtr. Destiny Rukevwe Emurotu PHF*, tagged *A Brave Story* will be held on July 11th, 2026, at The Monarchy Event Center, Effurun, Delta State. It promises to be an outstanding event, and we are encouraged to attend en masse as a district.

We have one month to round up this beautiful Rotary year which has come with its many lessons, achievements and challenges. However, it has been a good journey, one I am happy to have shared with you all.

I urge Club Presidents to tidy up their various administrations this month, to ensure a smooth transition, come July 1st, to their successors. Also, Club Presidents are encouraged to report incoming Presidents to Rotary International on time, so they won't have issues in the next Rotary year.

Dear Friends, in all, let us not relent in furthering the impact of Rotary/Rotaract in our communities.

I wish you all a Happy New Month, as we continue to serve you better.

Thank you

* Paul Arungwa Jnr PHF
*District Rotaract Representative*

*Day 2 of the Joint DISCON: End Polio Now Road Walk, Benin City*

_PDG Joshua Hassan of the Nigeria National Polioplus Committee_, in a brief interview during the road walk, enlightened the public on the fight against polio:

“Polio is a disease we can and must eradicate. Nigeria has come a long way, but the work is not over. Every child deserves to be protected, and that starts with awareness, immunization, and community action. Rotary, Rotaract, and partners like NNPPC are on the ground to ensure no child is left behind.”

Rotaractors also lent their voices in *Clocking Polio Out* in a shared commitment to a polio-free world

It was a powerful reminder that service goes beyond the hall - it’s out in the streets, in the communities, where it matters most.

A wonderful experience all around 💙💛❤️

*Day 2 of the Joint DISCON* hit different 🔥

We took the *End Polio Now* message straight to the streets of Benin City, Edo State on the 14th of May, 2026 . Rotaractors and Rotarians marched together in End Polio Now Shirt , turning the city into a sea of service and awareness.

From chants to the energy of the crowd, it was more than a walk - it was a reminder that we’re still in the fight until polio is history. The streets felt alive with purpose, and Benin City heard us loud and clear.

Service Above Self in action 💙💛❤️
