PRESS RELEASE

RIVERS WOMEN WERE DECEIVED, SHUN MRS IBAS

Rivers Women have said they were deceived into attending an event to receive Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, wife of the Speaker of House of Representatives, who was to represent the wife of the President and First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. They arrived at the event only to see the wife of Rivers Sole Administrator, Mrs. Theresa Ibas.

The women, who rejected Mrs. Ibas, noted that they had happily mobilised in their numbers to attend the occasion expecting to receive and welcome the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Abbas and not Mrs. Theresa Ibas.

The women said Iba's wife further insulted Rivers women by calling them, "my women", as they did not vote for her husband as governor of Rivers State.

They expressed gratitude to the First Lady HE Senator Remi Tinubu assuring her of the unflinching support of Rivers women to the Renewed Hope Initiative.

BREAKING NEWS šŸ‘‡

GOVERNOR FUBARA — THE PEACE ICON WHO SAVED ₦264BN WITHOUT BORROWING.

~ Why President Tinubu Must End the Emergency Rule in Rivers State.

In less than two years in office, Governor Sir (Dr) Siminalayi Fubara has proven to be not just a beacon of peace but also a fiscal trailblazer. While many governors rely on loans and debts to fund their projects, Governor Fubara made a solemn vow to the people of Rivers State — not to borrow a single naira to fund projects. Today, he has lived up to that promise, saving an unprecedented ₦264 billion in less than 2 years.

This achievement is not just about numbers. It reflects the deep discipline, stability, and integrity Governor Fubara brings to governance. His peaceful nature has fostered confidence in his administration and in the business environment. The economy of Rivers is thriving, workers are paid amounts higher than the minimum wage, projects are ongoing, and the people feel secure.

Yet, this same governor has been sidelined by an unconstitutional state of emergency. President Tinubu must listen to the will of the people and restore the mandate of Rivers State. The federal imposition of a sole administrator and suspension of a democratically elected government must end.

Rivers State needs her Peace Icon back. Nigeria needs more leaders like Fubara — prudent, peaceful, and people-oriented. End the emergency rule. Rivers State is not fragile. It is fiscally strong, politically awakened, and spiritually led by a man who walks in peace and governs with purpose.

Reinstate Governor Fubara. Let Rivers breathe.

WORKERS’ DAY 2025: GOV FUBARA CELEBRATES RIVERS WORKFORCE

•••Urges Continued Protection Of Workers’ Rights

As the nation marks Workers’ Day 2025, Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has extended warm greetings and heartfelt commendation to the hardworking men and women who drive the state’s progress.

In a message of solidarity and appreciation, Governor Fubara praised the resilience, dedication, and professionalism of the Rivers workforce, particularly in light of ongoing challenges to democratic governance in the state, and described their commitment as the backbone of the state's development and beacon of hope for a better future.

Governor Fubara said that this year’s theme, *ā€œEnsuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,ā€* underscores the urgent need to protect workers amid escalating environmental threats and socio-political uncertainties, and stressed the importance of prioritizing occupational safety and well-being as essential pillars for sustainable growth.

He acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in advancing labour reforms and promoting climate-conscious policies that support a healthier, safer working environment nationwide.

Governor Fubara expressed deep gratitude to Rivers workers who, despite political turbulence and governance disruptions, continue to demonstrate patriotism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to duty, emphasizing that their sacrifices form the cornerstone of the state’s stability and advancement.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to workers' welfare, the Governor called on all employers —public and private — to respect labour laws and uphold the rights and dignity of every worker. He advocated for continuous improvements in working conditions to reflect both legal standards and moral responsibility.

Governor Fubara offered prayers for divine wisdom and guidance for all leaders, pledging that his administration will remain steadfast in creating a work environment that nurtures dignity, opportunity, and prosperity for all.

He encouraged the people of Rivers State to stay hopeful and united, assuring them that the forces of justice, peace, and progress will prevail in the end.
