What are Human rights?

Human Rights are fundamental rights and freedoms that every human being is entitled to regardless of their Race, Nationality, Religion, S*x, Language, Political affiliation, Birth or other Status.

Who is a Human Rights lawyer?

A Human Rights lawyer is a legal practitioner specializing in protecting and promoting fundamental human rights and freedoms.

Their primary role is to ensure that individuals and groups have their rights respected, upheld and enforced especially when these rights are violated or threatened.

What Human Rights Lawyers Are not;

Human Rights lawyers are not lawyers that do pro bono(free) matters.

Human Rights lawyers are not trouble makers or activists that disregard the laws.

Human Rights Lawyers are not Super humans but passionate individuals who work within the purview of the law to uphold the rule of law.

NOTE: IS NOT ALL MATTERS THAT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS MATTER.

*DEDICATED TO ALL WOMEN WHO HAVE SUFFERED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OR ANY FORM OF VIOLENCE*

The theme of International Women's Day 2025 is *" "*.

This theme emphasizes the need to speed up progress toward gender equality. The theme encourages individuals, Communities and organizations to take swift and decisive action to address systemic barriers and biases that women face, including domestic violence, and to support, encourage and elevate women's advancement in the society.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we pause to reflect on the strength, resilience, and courage that define us as women. Today is not just a day of celebration; it is a day of remembrance, a day to honor those who have faced unimaginable challenges, particularly those who have suffered the trauma of domestic violence.

To the brave women who have endured such hardships, we stand with you. Your experiences, while deeply painful and often isolating, are not yours to bear alone. You are not defined by your past, but by your remarkable strength to rise every day and continue moving forward.
Your stories inspire others to find their voices, to seek help, and to break the cycle of violence. Know that you are supported, you are believed, and you are valued.

Today, we also recognize the critical importance of building safe and nurturing spaces where all women can thrive.

The home is often referred to as a haven, a sanctuary. It is within our homes that we foster love, understanding, and community. However, for many, this sanctuary can be a source of pain and fear.

As women, we have the remarkable ability to be home builders in every sense of the word. To be a home builder goes beyond the physical structure; it encompasses creating an environment where respect, kindness, and support flourish. It involves nurturing relationships and encouraging dialogue, where every voice is heard and valued.

This inmate has been in the prison since 2019 on a charge of Armed robbery without any legal advice.

Today, 5th March 2025 at the Port Harcourt magisterial district, by the mercy and favour of the Almighty God, Legal Care Advocacy Foundation having appeared for him and made application for his discharge for lack of diligent prosecution and for long/wrong incarceration without legal advice, he was discharged and the matter struck out.

We Visited the Maximum Security Corrections facility (Prison), Port Harcourt.

It was a huge success with over 20 inmates attended to both materially and legal aid whose matters are pending in several Courts without legal representation.

We had a new member who participated in the visit.

I appreciate all members who turned up for this visit, the first for the year 2025 and it will never be the last.

We will follow up on the names gotten to ensure their release by God's grace this year.

God bless us🙏
