Dear friends,

Rotary Club of Portharcourt City Valley is 5yrs!

We started our 5th year anniversary celebration activities, we're thrilled to have visited an orphanage to create hope by sharing love to them through gifts, clothings, food items and cash.

Our Saviour Orphanage Home provides a safe and loving home for children, many of whom have faced unimaginable challenges.

Thanks to everyone who supported this project. Let's continue to serve humanity through service.

Rotary PH City Valley Takes Leadership Grooming To Primary, Secondary Schools: Charters EarlyAct, Interact Clubs.

As part of Rotary’s effort to provide young people with opportunities to serve their communities and also exposes them to additional educational and leadership opportunities, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt City Valley has chartered a Rotary Early Act Club and Interact Club in Port Harcourt.

They are the Rotary Early Act club of Amazing Grace Court Primary School, off Odili road and Interact club of Blooming Rose Secondary School, Eneka Road Port Harcourt.

President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt City Valley Captain Paul Ojinta, a Major Donor of The Rotary Foundation, while presenting charter certificate to the President of EarlyAct club and the school management, explained that the Rotary EarlyAct club is an inclusive service club that focuses on character development in young students, and promotes achieving goals of community service to the school and local community.

β€œEarlyAct provides young students the opportunity for gaining an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. At a young age, all students can easily be encouraged to be caring and helpful. Their minds are open to recognize the dignity and worth of each individual which builds respect for others. EarlyAct also teaches students important values such as caring, respect, empathy, responsibility, tolerance, citizenship, compassion, friendship and leadership”, he explained.

On her part, District Chair, EarlyAct, Faith Ogbu while presenting the Interact Club charter Certificate said Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. She advice the secondary school students of the club to organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.

Assistant District Governor, Ngozi Okwum in her address explained that β€œThousands of students have taken advantage of Rotary’s Interact for High School level; youth exchange program, ambassadorial and peace scholarships and leader ship training. Underlying all of Rotary’s programs is the motto … Service Above Self. The mission and operation of EarlyAct are closely linked to the ideals of Rotary and provide the foundation and natural succession into Interact”.

Economic trees were planted by members of the clubs in their various schools as part of their maiden project to protect the environment. Aslo materials were donated to the new clubs to start up their fellowships.
