Excerpt of Exalt Nigeria's speech at the NBA-SPIDEL Conference held yesterday, 22nd June, 2023 at The Citadel.
"We must constantly remind Public office holders that we, the good people of Nigeria are the true custodians of power not them. We must make the feel the threat from day 1 in office not just when it's close to elections. In the last Guber election, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos felt the treat of Lagosians and in one week he was a barber, dispatch rider, usher,phone repairer e.t.c. the only thing he didn't do was to hawk age bread and ewa agoyin on the streets of Lagos. He felt the threat but we can't let that threat to be felt every four years only.
We must become the threat to all public office holders if we expect justice to be served. If Prof. Yakubu Mahmood knew that he had the people to contend with he would have been more careful. If INEC officiala know that if they rig elections they will be doing a long time behind the bars for a long time or may even be killed like it is done In some Asain countries, I assure you they won't accept bribes.The Nigerian people must rise up."
Lastly, the issues of the competence of judges, their perceived corruption or thier dependence on the executive arm of government for funding or any other excuse that have led to the loss of faith in the judiciary is of little importance now. The judiciary is at a heroic cross road that theyuat rise to the occasion and do right by the people and posterity. Else what waits for us a the other is Anarchy. We don't have any other country to call our own. The time to act and save us all in now.
