In line with the global mission of Lions Clubs International to provide humanitarian service and support vulnerable communities, the Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club successfully carried out a financial support project for petty traders at Rumurolu Market, located along Woji Road (off Woji Rail, after Elijiji Junction).

This initiative was designed to ease the daily financial challenges faced by small-scale traders and to encourage their businesses to grow. Through this thoughtful outreach, the club extended a meaningful token of love, demonstrating compassion, unity, and a strong commitment to community development.

The project reflects the club’s dedication to making a positive impact at the grassroots level and reinforces the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs who play a vital role in the economy.

In alignment with Lions Clubs International’s global commitment to humanitarian service and support for vulnerable communities, the Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club successfully organized a Paediatric Cancer Support Programme themed “Hope for Little Heroes.”

The project was held on 11th February 2026 at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Department of Paediatrics, Oncology Unit.

The initiative was designed to provide emotional encouragement, financial relief, and moral support to children battling cancer and their families, while reinforcing the Club’s dedication to compassionate service.

The “Hope for Little Heroes” Paediatric Cancer Support Programme stands as a testament to the Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club’s unwavering commitment to service and humanitarian impact. By providing direct financial assistance and emotional support, the Club made a meaningful difference in the lives of children battling cancer and their families.

The outreach reaffirmed the Lions’ motto, “We Serve,” and highlighted the importance of sustained community involvement in supporting vulnerable groups.

NO FAMILY GOES HUNGRY

In furtherance of its commitment to humanitarian service, the Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club successfully carried out its Hunger Relief Project on 10th January 2026 at the Bundu-Ama Community Primary School Field, marking the beginning of the new year with compassion and hope.

The initiative brought much-needed relief to over 100 families within the Bundu-Ama Community. The event was enriched by vibrant traditional and cultural displays of the Abuloma people, showcasing the community’s rich heritage and fostering unity.

As part of the outreach, food palliatives were distributed to more than 100 households, directly addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable families. The project also provided an opportunity to sensitize community members on Lions Clubs International, highlighting its mission, values, and the positive impact of its service activities within local communities.

The outreach was met with overwhelming success, as beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude and immense joy for the timely intervention and support rendered by the Lions Club.

A DAY WITH THE ORPHANS

The Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club International, District 404A2 Nigeria, shared love, hope, and compassion with the wonderful children of Oasis Love Orphanage, Oyigbo as part of our Hunger Relief Project.

More than a visit, it was a moment of connection. We shared food items, laughter, warm embraces, and heartfelt encouragement, reminding the children that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved. The joy on their faces reflected the true meaning of Christmas—love, giving, and togetherness.

At Lions Club International, we believe no child should experience hunger or feel forgotten, especially during a season meant to celebrate love and hope. Every item shared carried a message of care. Every smile received strengthened our resolve to continue serving humanity.

The visit also provided an opportunity to enlighten the community about the mission and impact of Lions Club International, reaffirming our commitment to service with compassion.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our dedicated Lions, Leos, and volunteers whose selfless efforts made this outreach possible. Together, we continue to touch lives and spread love—one child, one family, one act of kindness at a time.

In a remarkable show of community service, the Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club successfully carried out a Diabetes Awareness Campaign at Abali Motor Park, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The event aimed to educate, engage, and empower residents on the importance of diabetes prevention and early detection. Participants benefited from a range of free health services, including:
1. Diabetes Prevention and Management Talk
2. Free Body Mass Index (BMI) Check
3. Free Blood Pressure Screening
4. Free Blood Glucose Test

This impactful outreach reflects the Club’s ongoing commitment to promoting community health, wellness, and awareness—bringing essential health education and screening directly to the people.

On Sunday 26th October, 2025 , we witnessed a truly beautiful and colourful event. The Fundraising and Installation Ceremony of Lion Engr. Okorie Peace Udochukwu, as the 6th President of the Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club.

It was an atmosphere filled with joy, fellowship, and purpose as Lions, guests, and dignitaries came together to celebrate leadership dedicated to service and humanity. The event not only marked a new chapter for our club but also reinforced our collective commitment to making a positive impact in our community.

The Port Harcourt Golden Lions Club successfully carried out its Mental Awareness and World Sight Day outreach at Community Secondary School, Rumuomasi, Old Aba Road.

The event created awareness among students and staff on the importance of mental health care, early intervention, and regular eye checkups for better well-being and academic performance.
